Thanks for letting me know my partial was too long. I had 2 more and still having auras so I rang the nurse and she told me to go to hospital. They agreed.

Wobblez, you are in our thoughts and prayers. In fact, just stopped writing this to say a prayer for you, done :).

What do they do at hospital? Monitor or give you additional med to control?

Thanks Chaz. They couldn't do too much but were concerned that as my first seizure today went over 30mins i may have been status? Don't really know what that means. I had a simple partial in hospital so they at least gave me a script for diazepam. Its nice to know i have something to keep me safe and save me regular trips to hospital.

Oh, thats very long indeed...

Status means "brain is in a state of persistent seizure" that may not end on its own and this for sure is reason to be headed to hospital.

Our house and my sons have diazepam all over it, his girlfriend keeps a pump in every handbag....often needing to explain why she has them on her person. Totally with you on having the diazepam on hand.

I always tell my son, to tell people (school/work etc) not to think twice at calling an ambulance when they are not sure what to do or are just to nervous/to scared to handle the situation...or if its closing in/near 5 mins and diazepam is administered and no quick relief from the diazepam, then no question, call ambulance NOW...

I judt do glad they take good care of you...

Oh Wobblez SO GLAD you went to the hospital. If they think status then that is the only place in the world to be. Hope the diazepam is working and that this B.S. stops for you until you can get to the epileptologist.
I know anything over 1/2 hour would scare me to death... do you have anyone who can come stay with you for a few days? I know, I'm like you, keeping the independence is huge, but maybe have your mom over or stay with her just until things settle down?

Hi Wobblez,

Sorry that you had to make another trip to hospital but glad that you did.
Hope the Dizapem works well for you & fingers crossed you will be O.K until you see your epitiologist.

Hi Wobblez, hope you didn't have to hang around at the hospital too long, and that you are feeling okay at home now.

Hi everyone, thank you so much for your concern and helpful information. It's funny, regardless of how awful I feel, the first thing I want to do is check in on here when I wake up.

I was in the waiting room for about 2 hours but I didn't mind that because there was a car accident full of young kids, a little boy in a lot of pain due to an allergic reaction and a little girl who needed stitches.

When they took me in, they observed me for about 3 hours and I had a small seizure. I could see the doctor was trying to decide whether to send me home or not. I guarentee it was due to lack of beds. I liked her though, she was very thorough and kept saying I had useless veins. "Honestly I've seen better ones on newborns, yours are pewny!" Hahaha. After learning about status, I'm glad I went in!

Mum took me to the hospital so I came home with her. I'll stay with her for a few days as I don't have uni till wednesday. So grateful for my mum. I hope we can pick up my little dog and have her here too though. My flatmates can look after her but I miss her =)

Im glad things are going ok for you. My mom has been there for me through my whole life dealing with Epilepsy. I know the feeling of being so greatful to have your mother there by your side! :)

You have been on such a wild roller coaster ride!
I hope that they can find the right fit for you soon...diagnosis wise and medication wise!
I'm glad that you have the support of your mom.
We all have to lean on people sometimes!

im glad ur okay i knew somethin wasn't right.its good they gave u something so u dont have to go back it sucks that its happening right now.

Yes my mum is awesome and so is valium!

The Doctor insisted I get on to it faster and take valium as soon as I get an aura. My problem is I get auras several times a day and valium knocks you out for 4-6hours so it's obviously very disruptive. However, if I don't take it quickly enough, I become "stuck" and unable to pick up the tablet and swallow it. It's just a fine line between getting auras and knowing when the aura will turn into a seizure.

The pharmacist suggested I take half and experiment with that. On dodgy days I should also take them at night which makes sense. It's not a nice feeling wondering if i'll have one in my sleep and not be able to get help.

Do you guys have a way of deciding when to take a preventative? I'm a uni student and I struggle enough as it is with study, let alone having to dope myself up and lose the whole day. I'm very sensitive to sedatives.

If valium (diazepam) works but makes you too tired you might want to try Ativan (Lorazepam) which is very similar. Hopefully it will work just as well but with less side-effects.

Thanks Epileric, i'll keep that in mind if this remains a preventative thing when i'm alone and can't be monitored. I haven't heard of it here, hopefully it is available in Australia. How r u travelling lately?
