Hey Everyone,
I hope I've put this in the right place...
Well I'm heading over to the neurologist this afternoon for my semi-annual visit.
I'm always a little nervous, not sure why. I've made a list of things I want to talk about. I've gone there and forgotten things more than once...
He's really nice and lets me talk and ask questions. Only problem is I can't get in to see him anytime. I have to make my next appointment six months after each one. Is this the case with anyone else?
I remember a few years ago my seizures suddenly increased in frequency and I started to freak out. I called to make an appointment, and they said I couldn't get in and I'd have to wait for my next appointment, which was 4 months away...
Much better than my previous neurologist about 6 years ago. I asked him if I could switch medications. I was on Tegretol for 11 years at that time and my side effects were getting worse. I was so drowsy, spaced out, my grades were slipping, and my hands were so incredibly shaky. He actually said "I think it's all in your head. You're imagining it. Your medication doesn't have those side effects." End of story, in his opinion. I got my refill and left. I was so mad that I didn't know what to say.
It took me 6 months to get a referral to another neurologist, who let me change over to Lamictal, no problem at all.
Sorry I rambled on there...
It has made me relax a bit to write all this down here! Thanks for listening everyone.
Chris
