I'm Ridgecat. It's a takeoff on my cat, who gets a ridge down her back when she is startled. Which is often... We call her the Rhodesian Ridgecat.

Hmm, where to start.

Undiagnosed head injury over 20 years ago (not a lot of research into mild TBIs back then...). All the signs, none of the tests or follow up care. Things got steadily worse. In retrospect, I was having absence and nocturnal seizures all along - just didn't know it.

Fast forward, had a "significant event" followed a couple years later by 2 full on tonic-clonics. My brain has now settled into partial and partial to generalized TLE. I'm not medically stable. I'm at the "well, you're better than you were - be happy!" stage.

I have experience with: Depakene, Depakote, Lamictal, Topamax, Neurontin, Trileptal, Keppra, Klonopin, and Diamox, as well as a whole bunch of psychiatric drugs that were given to me prior to them figuring out that I was spazzy, not crazy.

I spend my time translating medical journal articles into something the average person can understand, taking care of an old service dog who has seizures herself, and taking care of my family. Not necessarily in that order.

Hi there and welcome!

That's an awful lot of meds you've tried there :P Hope your current one works better.

Hi, Ridgecat,

Welcome to the forum!

Wow - that's a lot of meds. I'll never complain about my series of meds again. Not near what you've been through.

Glad you found us in here. The old posts are a wealth of information. There's a search button at the top that's pretty useful, so take your time and browse if you'd like to.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys! It's been a heck of a zappy week. I figured maybe it was time to seek out the like minded, you know?
