Okay...

I was given .5 mg Ativan... that worked the first day.

But I have an inhuman ability top build tolerance.

So instead of 1 pill 4x daily, I quickly wemt to 5-6 pills 4x daily... and well... now I'm out... I abused the medication, I know... I juust wnted it to keep working... what do I do? I have some refills, but I doubt the pharmacy would refill me for another couple weeks... should I call the doctor and say, 'the dog ate my pills, and lie or say, 'Hey, I need something stronger, help me please..'

I definitely understand your fear there- I'm in for a VEEG right now and they've taken me off of all my AEDs for the past 3 days.

Trust me, no one wants to have a seizure but you have to do precisely what the doctor prescribes and you have to follow the doctor's wishes on the matter....in other words you have to tell him what happened. Just tell the doctor your feelings/emotions are doing at the moment and why you feel that way.

It is very easy to build up a tolerance to benzos, believe me mate ive been there. You dont have a inhuman ability to build up tolerance, these tablets are for short term use, hence why you have done what you have done, they are very addictive. All you have done is abused this script, because they obviously made you feel good and thats what you needed and wanted at the time, its a very slippery slope.

I would see your doctor as soon as possible, explain whats happend and the situation,as you say he may up your dosage he may look diffirent medication for you.

pm me mate if you want to talk further.

hey just call ur dr cause .5 is not that high i take 1mg and thats at night and he also has me a prn that means anytime cant pull me out of a seizure shove one of those down my throat but ya pharmacy more than likely wont give more until dr. approval.and my dr doesnt even think the 1mg is that much if i wasnt on so many other meds he said he would up that but persona;;y i wouldn't want that cause i would prolly abuse it if i can out of my mj to sleep.

Be honest with your doctor. And with yourself. Ativan is for short-term seizure control, not long-term, for precisely the reasons you've described. Please give your other seizure med a chance to work.

laddi da

Yea, talked with the doctor and was honest... he called me a drug addict... but re-upped my script of ativan and I went and got it again... I feel better now. The Depakote is working but it makes me so sluggish and tired, I have no appetite anymore and makes me kinda nauseous.... but... combined, i'm sorta in a tranquil daze, not pleasant, not unpleasant... which is positive since I used to be so stressed all the time... right now i just feel cold, in my gut, and kinda numb as I wait for medicaid to kick in so I can see a legitimate Neurologist...
