Now that is a title for a high class problem!
I don't usually get them but my Mom treated me to a pedicure as a gift.
Pretty toes are a pick me up!

Whenever she worked on my left foot with the scrubber thing or vigourous massaging my toes would splay out and my muscles would tense up and my hand would start a twitching! It was like a reflex.

I couldn't help it! It didn't cause a seizure or anything thankfully but man...the left side of my body is messed up! I say this laughingly!
I was trying to make the poor pedicurist feel better. She was asking if I was ok and apologizing.

My toes do look really pretty though. Pretty in pink.
 
Interesting! Sounds a bit like like what happens when you scratch a dog's tummy or back in just the right place.

You reminded me to throw a bottle of toenail polish into my bag before I head out for the weekend. The little piggies could use a touch-up.
 
Yes LJ thanks for the reminder... wanted to do mine before the weekend too. You're so right they are sometimes just what a girl needs.
 
Sounds like they rubbed on a nerve!

I've never had a manicure or pedicure in my life. Well, not by someone else, i always do my own.

Luckily i'm ambidextrous. Would be nice to be pampered by someone else though :)

I'm reluctant to say anything because I'm certainly no expert, but there could be something to this. There is something called the Babinski sign or reflex. This is a splaying of the toes when a certain area of the bottom of the foot is rubbed. It's normal in babies, but in adults it can indicate a neurological problem in the motor region of the brain. What you experienced is probably what Nakamova said about the way a dog's foot goes when you scratch its belly since you mentioned your arm jerking as well. But if the article below sounds like what you experienced, it would be a good idea to at least talk to your neuro. It may be that he/she already noticed this reflex and wasn't worried.
