I never thought I'd be on here again with a question like this, but how do you determine if an episode of peeing in your sleep is a seizure or merely a response to a dream/nightmare in progress? I ask because a good 75% of my dream dealt with a frantic search to find a clean restroom in the maze of a large hospital, with plenty of interruptions and other obstacles to slow down my quest. Problem is, I think I had found the restroom already in my dream, peed, and was now frantically searching for my shoes. (Don't ask.)

I was able to stop the flow of urine once I realized what was happening and that this was not part of my dream - but not before I wet my clothes.

I experienced no confusion whatsoever afterwards. In fact, I remembered every detail of this dream, which is very rare for me.

I had one other episode like this (peeing in my sleep) prior to being diagnosed with epilepsy and starting seizure meds, but I can't for the life of me remember if I was confused upon awakening that time? I know that time I wasn't given the option of stopping the flow - I just woke up with wet sheets.

Wouldn't I have experienced confusion if this had been a true seizure?
Do most seizures occur during REM or whatever stage sleep I would have been in to have been able to open my eyes and stop the flow? I worry, because I just got my driver's license back a little over a month ago and I don't want to lose it again for nothing.

as u say, generally no option to stop the flow seizure, so my thought, sounds like you were deep in dream mode elizzza811 (and u recall) ...
