Hope somebody can help. I hav suffered from epilepsy since 5. Now 42, 10 years ago i had brain surgery for the epilepsy which has controled it but still on AED Tegretol 1000mg and Levetiracetam 1,500mg.

After brain surgery i was suffering from phsycosis badly didnt trust my husband doctors couldnt go out in the street I used to sit in the house turn the electric meter off becasue i thought people were signaling through my brain and could read my mind. I ended up taking an overdose becasue i couldnt see an end to it ( I hate myself for that now) The doctors put me on sulperide 1000mg a day which dampens my physcosis down but does not take it all away and advised me that I have postictal psychosis.

My neourosurgeon said Levetiracetam Keppra can sometimes case this and wants to withdraw me from it slowly, I said what if I have a seizure what then he said he would see me in 3 months. (he never gave me an answer really)

Has anybody else suffered phsycosis and if so what meds are they on.

Hi roccs, welcome to CWE!

I haven't experienced post-ictal psychosis myself, so I can't help you there. I do think you need to push your neurosurgeon to get some more concrete answers about what happens if you have a seizure while withdrawing from the Keppra. He's not doing his job right if you're left with unanswered questions about your care.
