Hi I was recently diagnosed with epilepsy and suffer from partial and nocturnal seizures, I woke up this morning feeling pretty rubbish (very headache, tired etc) but just assumed ot was from a bad night sleep, later on today (about 11ish?) I had a seizure (think it was complex partial because I don't remember it and because of what people have told me) but as I was coming out of it I started vomiting aswell as my normal confusion, I've had a sleep now and have been sick another couple of times but just wandered if anyone else had experienced this? Thanks

I have complex partial seizures that generalize and I know I experienced episodes of sudden nausea and vomiting prior to my epilepsy diagnosis. Never realized these were seizure-related though until after I was diagnosed. Not sure if these vomiting episodes were occurring before or after my seizures as I was having several in succession, many of them while I was still asleep. And then I would have several more seizures upon awakening whenever this would occur. Confusion usually followed my nocturnal seizures.

One seizure, I remember, had me puking all over myself - I just sat up in bed and puked. Then I had no choice but to shower and wash sheets at 3am, but then I had another seizure while I was showering. I ended up in the kitchen, soaking wet, hair tangled, wearing the same clothes I puked on. Still only have fuzzy memories of realizing the 'urgency' of getting out of the shower right then and there, stepping out, and then reaching for the clothes closest to me. It wasn't until I came out of the seizure that I realized I had reached into the dirty pile of clothes. I'm still kind of grossed out that I did that.

Definitely. I used to wake up in puddles of vomit on a regular basis.

One benefit i've seen since being implanted with a VNS is i don't seem to be so ill afterwards, though i haven't heard this report from anyone else.

It might be i'm simply more aware of it, but it seems as though partial seizures make me even more ill than full-blown ones.

Ack. Acrid, putrid, foul nostrils, late night sheet washing, carpet cleaning, laundry, showers (danger!), loss of tooth enamel, aspiration risk. <shiver> Yuck. Ick.

So, to answer your question, yes. Ugh. Yes.

I've never vomited after partials, but almost always do after or sometimes even before Gran-Mals or any other seizures other than the partials. I would get these horrible pains in my lower stomach and just throw up all over anything that happened to be there at the time. It's a lot more common after then before if that helps at all.

Once when I was a kid I had a seizure and then proceeded to throw up all over a very nice couch at a mall I remember when I came to all I cared about was my grandma having to pay for it. Which she didn't luckily but that was really all I cared about at the time.

I've never vomited when I've had a partial seizure but I do usually vomit after I have had a Tonic Clonic.

I was throwing up like crazy this past seizure. I'm not really sure what type of seizures I was having but I was in bed all day and for a while I was throwing up like crazy. I barely remember it.

had a few episoded of vomiting, dr didnt think it was related to seizures, once i started the divalproex it stopped, but now i get horrible upset stomach and nausea. I take a few grains of salt and put at back of tongue when the nausea is unbareable, physician heal thyself. Im my only hope.

I've wondered if the vomiting period was food poisoning, or the mosquito virus that goes around ... it sure would be convenient if seizures left me a note "Dear Peter, I seized you today, and I was all tonic-clonic up in your brain. - love, your seizure. p.s. I'm sorry."

I tend to get nausea during my partial seizures and even accidentally threw up on my teachers shoes after one last year.
