Hi everyone
I am a single man who lives by himself and would love to keep a diary of my seizures but I can't seem to be able too. My Dr. want's me to keep a diary of how many I have and how long they last and so on. But with me living by myself it's not like I can hit a stopwatch whenever a seizure starts and stop it whenever it's over. I know that sometimes I have more than one but how many is a big ??
Does any one have any suggestions about how I can keep a diary of some sort???
Thanks

Short of having company over constantly or setting up a video recorder, I think you are just going to get into the habit of being aware of the clock and estimating the best you can.

I use this site and I love it!
seizuretracker.com

I can print up a report for my dr each time I go in to see him. :)

tkopi,

I use seizuretracker and love it.

Don't worry about timing your seizures if you can't. In my opinion the really important info is when (date, time of day), any possible triggers, any postictal effects (headaches, if you fall asleep for how long, confusion, etc.), keeping a good record of your medications and dosages, and a record of your medication side effects.

My one worry about seizure tracker is security - both from external people/orgs, and from internal failure (loss of data or going out of business). For that reason I print a report every month and file it. And pray for the best when it comes to data attacks or confidentiality from outside people or organizations.

Hi, there!

Do you have a cellular phone? I'm really bad about keeping a diary, too, but once I realized that my phone usually goes just about everywhere I do, it was easy for me to solve that problem. I downloaded several journaling applications before I found one that I was happy with, but whenever I have a seizure now, I just make a note in my phone about it. I could export my notes, but I just copy them down in a notebook once I get some free time.

I think you could still pull it off with an older phone, though you'd probably need to either send yourself e-mail or text messages.

Some phones have built-in voice recorders if typing isn't your thing.

I was just glad to find a way to use something I already kept with me...I really don't need any extra luggage!

Perhaps there is a clever stop watch that you could keep in a pocket or wear on your person somehow. Squeeze it when a seizure begins and again when you pull out of it.
