Hi: This is probably the wrong place to put this but I stumbled across this today. It is from google books and it is called "Puzzling cases of Epilepsy" second addition. I can't copy the link because it will not let me. It is written by Dieter Schmidt and Steven Schachter.

Meetz, thanks for the link but I was surprised that no category, that I could find, specifically addressed Temporal Lobe Epilepsy and its mystical elements. I have TLE and after having had my first seizure I experienced auditory hallucinations. Never having had them before, I suspected that there might be a possible correlation of my instances to TLE. I discussed the matter with my neurologist and he confirmed that what I was experiencing was in fact symptomatic. Naturally, I followed up with some reading. Here's one of many researchers who's written extensive articles on the subject of TLE as it relates to the paranormal and mystical, exploring auditory hallucination as well.

I quote neuroscience researcher, Michael Persinger. He asserts "that increases in the electrical charges in the brain triggering the temporal lobe can stimulate Temporal Lobe Epilepsy and tigger hallucinations (inculding auditory), paranormal phenomena and religious apparitions.". He goes into more depth and while I don't have a link to provide, all one has to do is simply search TLE & The Paranormal.

Indeed, there are puzzling cases of Epilepsy and the questions are never exhausted.
