So, I have noticed lots of people are aware of life changing illnesses such as Cancer, which affects a lot of people. However the other day, I noticed not once in the 18 years of my life have I never seen a TV commercial about epilepsy awareness.

There is a lot about cancer, about what to do when someone has a stroke, but nothing on Epilepsy. I have created a video on youtube about Epilepsy and have put a song I sung in the background, but wondered if anyone else has any ideas of how to raise more awareness about epilepsy.

Only a handful of people I know have an idea of what Epilepsy is, so I am determined to get it out there and raise awareness about it more. So here I am asking, does anyone have any ideas of what I can do?

I am open to anything, once I have my heart set on something I will try my hardest to do it!! I know there is the purple day and I always wear my purple support epilepsy awareness, but does anyone have ideas?

This year is my charity year, and I am going to fundraise for Epilepsy Society, so some ideas of what to do for that will be nice too :)

Hope you're all good :hugs:

I could not agree more with you and it makes me angry when I hear other talk about cancer and all the others, not that they are not important and then some dimwit who thinks they know something about epilepsy opens his mouth. All I can do is wish you the BEST OF LUCK.

Here in the U.S. we have National Epilepsy Awareness Month (November) and the National Walk for Epilepsy in Washington D.C. on April 20. In my state, Colorado, we have what is called Strides for Epilepsy in June and a Gala in April. Here is a list of ideas from our local Epilepsy Foundation:
Spreading awareness is the most powerful way to end the stigma attached with epilepsy, and YOU can can make a huge impact. See what others are doing for NEAM and get started spreading awareness in your community:

~I have a friend who knows a local sports reporter. I will ask if they can talk about epilepsy through out the month. (November)
~I plan to decorate my front door with a purple wreath, my mailbox with a purple ribbon, wear my epilepsy awareness sweatshirt, wear my purple people cross country walk teeshirt, my car has the awareness license plate cover, and spread the word on my facebook profile and other public forums.
~I plan on changing my twitter background to purple and I will tweet and post to facebook about epilepsy all month long.
~I will post and share via email every informational link about epilepsy that I come across.
~I wear something purple every day in support of Epilepsy awareness, whether it be earrings, shirt, socks, hair accessories, nail polish...Not just because I have had Epilepsy since childhood but because I support everyone who does. :)
~I will talk about it to everyone I can and encourage our schools to offer training to teachers and students in seizure awareness and first aid.
~I asked my husband to hang up the Get Seizure Smart Quiz at work, and church.
~I will wear purple throughout the month and I will explain why.
~I will put a purple ribbon on my photo on twitter, facebook, and blog weekly about epilepsy awareness.
~I am going to make a big purple ribbon and put in on our tree outside!
~I've created my own bumper sticker that I placed on the window of my SUV
~I will email the Get Seizure Smart quiz to everyone I know and encourage them to pass it along as well.
~I will make purple ribbons & pass them out everywhere I go this month.

There are so many ways to help get the word out about epilepsy. People need to know what it is and how epilepsy effects you. This will help dispel myths and the stigma attached. YOU can have a huge impact.

Think its the epilepsy society that do charity fundraising walks here in the uk I fancy doing it but don't know if I could meet the sponsorship targets!!
