Risperidone

I just started taking it in addition to my phenytoin and I wonder if anyone might have first-hand info on any side-effects to expect, if there are and major effects.
I'm excited to see how it'll start taking effect! Things have been clamorous and hard on me lately.

People who i have worked with (adults with learning disabilities) have taken it, the most common side effects i've seen in them is extreme sleepiness in most and weight gain in about 50% of the people who were on it.

Other side effects such as mental side effects i couldn't say really, most of the people i worked with weren't able to articulate what they were feeling.

Beware of risperdone (risperdol). It is an anti-psychotic, used for bi-polar and mood disorders. I took it once for extreme depression, before taking zyprexa, and it can bring on diabetes. Once I stopped taking risperdol, the the diabetes side effects dissipated, but the depression returned. So my psychiatrist started me on zyprexa, and within 3 months, I had a change in vision, weight loss, and felt extremely tired, more so than usual, all symptoms of diabetes. So all anti-psychotics DO have the potential of raising your glucose level. If you've had a history of diabetes, be very careful while taking these drugs. I did not have diabetes before these drugs, so it can happen.
