Hi, im 16 and tonight I had an extremely horrible experience. It happens during my sleep usually in a dream but its extremely vivid and I seem almost half asleep and half awake. Tonight I was dreaming I dont remember what but I remember everything going white like blinding white it felt like my eyes rolled back and then I started shaking violently but idk if it was in my dream or not. I remember hearing loud screaming but it wasnt me because I couldnt talk or move during this I woke up with my mouth wide open and my tounge hangin out of my mouth. I feel very confused and scared as this happened within the hour. Can someone relate or maybe are these symptoms?

I forgot to mention that this has happend before but with out the white light and shaking and I just couldnt move. Also every time I either am visualizing my room or actually looking around my room.

Sounds exactly like when my seizures started 8 years ago, I also was 16. It made me scared to go to sleep and messed up a lot for me... The seizures have changed since and are not as scary. Hope they do the same for you. I never thought it could have anything to do with epilepsy. I don't know if that's what you have but I suggest you go see a doctor about it. Also saw white light. I have never read/heard about anyone having seizures so identical to mine! Before I was 16 I woke up many mornings without being able to move at all. Then I just fell asleep again afterwards and thought it was a little weird but didn't see a doctor. I was 13-14 at that time. When you talk to the doctor just tell what you experience. I was so stupid never to tell because I was scared I was going crazy.

Tonight was the first time the white light ever happened. Also did you see your room while it happened? My vision went white then I started shaking but I could see after it started.

Hi jive, welcome to CWE!

While it's possible that you you may have had some sort of seizure, your symptoms also fit the description of one or more sleep disorders such as cataplexy or sleep paralysis (which can involve limb shaking and hallucinations). Seeing a doctor is the best way to get handle on what's going on. Write down everything that you can remember about it as well as the prior episode. Also write down anything else related to your overall health and stress levels that may have been going on over the last few days/weeks/months. Have you been getting enough sleep and been eating in a healthy manner? Do you consume a lot of caffeine or sodas? Do you spend a lot of time at the computer? Have you noticed any other unusual sensations -- things like "zoning out", feeling faint, twitching, etc.? Have you had any injury, illness or infections over the past year? Have you been under emotional stress? It's okay if you can't point any particular thing, but if you can, that may be helpful to the doctor.

I hope you can get some answers soon, and get a good night's sleep.

Yes I saw my room but only in my mind like a dream. It turned white and then I was unconscious. When I came out of it I felt my head shaking and my face was directed towards the ceiling - very uncomfortable. It all stopped then and I started being able to move again. I just read about sleep paralysis that nakamova mentioned and I guess that could be possible. I don't think my tung hang out and I didn't hear any screaming. But I did hear voices talking, just not to me.
