When my seizures first started, before I knew they were seizures and would lead to full body tonic seizures, I had uncontrollable nocturnal spasms or tightening of my lower legs. Lower leg muscles would seize up (dystonic posturing, was the medical term my neurologist gave it, secondary to motor neuropathy and frontal lobe seizures) over a period of 2-5 seconds, stop, then start again. This would go on for maybe 30 seconds, then end in more relaxed clonic movement that would go on for about 5 seconds. This seemed to stop with medication, and I had "only" full body tonic seizures without the preceding lower leg spasms/seizures(?) first. Last night and the night before this lower leg seizing/posturing is exactly what happened again, but both times at the end of it, it ended in a full body tonic seizure characteristic of what I do have now.
Also worth noting is that I've had 4 nights of tonic seizures in the past 8 days, which is characteristic of what was happening when I was not yet medicated.
I'm at a loss for determining the reason for this unexpected flare-up and reversion to old symptoms. I know about obvious triggers like lack of sleep, poor medication habits, alcohol, etc. etc. and none of them are issues. The only marked change in my routineis our weather which is uncharacteristically cold, but it's not like I'm running around improperly dressed for the weather and my heat is working fine in my condo.
I'd like to know if anyone else has had symptoms like mine, or has had a reversion to old seizure symptoms seemingly out of the blue like this. Also any suggestions for me would be much appreciated.

I'm really sorry to hear you're having a flare of old symptoms. I have no answers for you, but only hope for you that everything will go back to normal.

Sometimes after one has been on a medication for a while, the med loses it's efficacy and seizures do re-occur, so it may be time to increase your med or change to something else. I've had to do that a few times. Call your dr. and let him/her know.

Yes, unfortunately, some people do develop a tolerance to their meds after just a few years.

But it could be something else going on. Maybe your latest prescription was made by a different manufacturer? Maybe your nighttime tonic-clonics are having a cumulative effect in terms of fatigue/poor sleep quality, thereby lowering your seizure threshold.
Maybe you are coming down with something -- infection or illness can lower seizure threshold too. Is your diet off? Have you been drinking enough water? Sometimes it can be a bunch of little things that do it...

Good thought - a snowball effect of poor sleep from seizures leading to lower seizure thresholds leading to more seizures . . .
Hydration might also be an issue, as since it is cold I may not be drinking as much as I usually would.
I've been looking for one reason, and you're right that it might be many little things.
Thanks!

Nakamova, makes very valid suggestions, I am having problems i think with my clobozam and I have only been on that since July, the dosage was halved after 2 months as its a benzo and there are issues with dependency and tolerance but I am experiencing chronic insomnia and my myoclonic seizures are off the scale.

Hope you can speak with your Neuro and get some relief.
