I find it a bit appalling that some so-called medical professionals are still publishing articles with assurances that seizures do not cause brain damage.

Chronic seizures do INDEED cause brain damage -- especially in children. I keep coming across one study after another that mentions this.

A month or so ago, I remember being asked by a parent about this, and didn't have time to pull up the studies at that time, and just now came across yet another one, but couldn't remember which thread the parent asked me in, so will just post it here.

This study found that child-onset (younger than 14) temporal lobe epilepsy was associated with significant loss of brain tissue, reduced IQ, and reduced memory function.
