Wow! I went with my husband to see a heart specialist today and he thinks the seizures Mike had might be heart related. Mike has several arrhythmias and the specialist wants to do several tests on his heart in October to see if they're the culprit as apparently sometimes fast then slow heart rhythms can cause symptoms that look like seizures but might not be. So the intricate tests he's going to do study the electrical component of the heart.

We just thought we were going for a quick meeting with not much coming out of it so we were surprised when the doctor spent a lot of time gathering information and then came up with a plan so quickly.

Does anyone else have arrhythmias that triggered seizures?

Hey Nakaova - thanks for that link. That's exactly what the doctor seems to think - that it's heart-related and mimicking a seizure. He just is curious because Mike has a ton of arrhythmias and he said they could be playing off each other - especially when he is asleep and unaware. So that's why he wants to do an intricate electrical testing of his heart to take a look at what's going on and he also said at the same time he'd do an angiogram to look at his veins as his surgery was 8 years ago, so he wants to make sure they're not clogged up.

Wow - it was pretty mind-blowing yesterday. We thought we were going to just another boring specialist appt. where the doctor never listens and does nothing.

So time will tell.

Thanks for listening.

When will the testing happen? Let us know how it goes.
