Almost every time I go to get my hair or nails done, I have a seizure. Are certain smell a trigger, or does anyone else have this happen?

I never went to have my nails done and probably not had my hair done the way you did but aren't strong chemicals involved in such things?

It could be the aroma that is your trigger but I would also question if it's the chemicals themselves.

Also I moved your post to the kitchen for everyone to answer.

Thanks for moving it-is that where I should ask questions? I am new to knowing what was happening to me-took 3 and 1/2 years! So I am just learning about this. I just realized that this happened most times at the salon. The whole thing emberassed me-I am sure people thought I was on drugs or something!

Your very welcome.

If ever you're not sure where to post just look at the description under the link to the room & that should make it easy to figure out what to do where http://www.coping-with-epilepsy.com/forums/. If not the moderators are pretty cool about moving things to the right place.

I do know what you're talking about when you mention the embarrassment after a seizure. Have you considered checking out the ventilation of a salon before you decide to use it & see if that makes a difference?

Certain smells can definitely be triggers. Fluorescent lighting can be a trigger too -- any chance the salons you go to have that kind of lighting?
