I think that the meds can give you sezures it's only now I realise I didn't have auras till I went on tegretol. Course docs won't believe me

This was actually something I was going to make a post about in regards to auras from different AED's. After awhile of Tegretol I started feeling like I used to before a seizure. But no seizure would follow, so I was dealing with the nasty before feeling of a convulsion. No clue why, but I relate to this.

My second time on Keppra made me feel like it was making things worse, which didn't make sense so it couldn't been interaction with other drugs. Though the drug companies state many of the AED's out there can increase seizures. So I assume some people process them in their bodies differently causing a negative reaction. I figure if the Med isn't bring some positive aspect to seizure control after 2 months its not the right med. Overall thats up to your Doc to decide, just my opinion.

From research it seems foods with high levels of MSG can cause seizures or auras. I can't be for sure how true that is for me. I would keep a journal of what you eat and make sure how much MSG is in the food. Fast food tends to stir up seizures in some people. Diet can make a pretty big difference.

Hope I was some help and hopefully things start working out for you.

muat thai fighter, i asked about this and i got told the seizure meds dont do this and is impossible so im been told lies by the neuro, its since my meds have been increased i have started getting them during the day and feeling very tired and have no energy.

Yeah I don't think its very common for increased seizures on an anti epileptic, but it can happen. On the drugs PI sheet(I think that is what it's called) it states this. Why a person would have increased problems on a med could be for a variety of reasons. I get frustrated with some neurologists because they honestly believe a seizure can't break through on the med they are taking, or will avoid really explaining side affects of drugs. This seems to happen more with people who aren't a specialist in the field.

Have they talked about switching your med? It might be best if its causing more stress then relief. Hang in there, I think just about everyone has had their fair share of trying out meds. Certain meds that seemed light on everyone else made me feel awful. Just takes trial and error with a patient Dr.

I noticed that I was having more partials if I drank things with vitamin C. The Dr told me that certain food and beverages can flush the medication out of your system. I was told to wait for an hour to an hour and a half before drinking or eating anything that might travel thru my system quick.(i.e. juices, bran.) Haven't had as many issues since I took the advice. 200mg Vimpat, 600mg Lamictal, 300mg Dilantin and a VNS device and I still cannot stop my seizures. lol -Jeff

Yes, the neurotransmiter in Lecithin causes me seizures. And that shit is ubiquitous! in almost everything! even cereal, ghranola, almost all bakery products. Well the transmitter is in egg yolks as well. So I read all the fine print on all food I eat. Funny how the more raw fruits and veggies i eat the better the meds work. BTW. Now on 750 mg keppra 2 times day. That is more than before but i think the doc is scared as i had 2 BIG T/C s in March. But that is just because he switched me to lamectil because i worried 'bout keppra's side effects. But keppra worked so well for so long that i am just staying with it now. I wish there was something else we could all try. I relate to the Docs being disingenuous. I think big Pharma is just paying them to over-prescribe. and try us. Trying to be tobacco free (day 2 now) and i only screamed insanely for no reason a few times...? not bad eh?

I have tal;ked with so many doctors and 2 different neuros who are adamant none of this can happen whilst on meds, but mine have only increased whilst my meds have been increased, muaythaifighter i do get very worried and frustrated this can cause it to cant it? screaminghelix i havent been told any of that by my doctors, although someone did mention it on hear, but not about waiting an hour etc. Janus i agree doctors are scared because they dont have all the answers to our questions and dont want to answer incase there wrong and it will come back on them, i notice partials happen when i eat cheese it was my dad that noticed that because i didnt even know i was having them.
