I have my long awaited appointment at University of Chicago on Tuesday, but I have been feeling pretty good lately. Should I still go? They want to do their own EEG, but I just had one last month, so that seems kind of a waste. Also my co-pay is $150.00 and I could use that on something else. Of course if I don't go, then the next day I will most likely have some terrible seizure and kick myself for it :)

Two questions:
If there were no co-pay, would you go?
Will you have time to do anything else fun in Chicago?

I think you should go. Because like you said in your last sentence, something might happen the next day and then you'll kick yourself for not going!

Oh definately. It's not as if this appt was just made a week ago and can be rescheduled at any time, I remember you talking about this not long ago. You've waited and waited don't give up now!!
We all know with E that feeling good one day does not indicate what could happen the next (arghh). I remember a few months ago I was on top of the world one day, everything was going right and things were falling into place, I was genuinely happy and that's uncommon for me. Then BANG! I had one of the worst partials I've ever had.

Plus the $150 isn't that much money, I know it's still a lot but it may be different if it was a $2,000 trip. It's your health, it's worth it!!
As for the eeg, what are the chances it's more advanced? The yearly eeg's I have done at home are pretty basic, but when I went to a bigger hospital in a much bigger city it was totally different. More probes, questions I'd never been asked before, and the test was longer by a good 15 mins. Them wanting to do their own is great news, could show something different. Lol go! go! go!

thanks for the responses. Good news too! I called my insurance company and found out that I will just have to pay the doctor co-pay of 35 dollars :)

the other wasn't that much, but I currently have a son leaving for law school this month and another one getting married in September. With showers and "helping" with other expenses, it adds up. Plus, after years of complaining, I was finally able to have my teeth "zoomed" and contoured! I have really been excited about that.

But you are all right...with out my health, my pretty teeth won't get out much to be admired :)

Thats great news that your copay is only $35! Thats a huge diffference compared to $150! I can totally see where you're coming from when it comes to financial stuff and Health costs. Thats the thing I hate most about going to see doctors. Copays, our share of the costs, etc. Its just a pain in the butt! I can relate to when we have good days and then bad days. Ive noticed most of my days seem to be good, but anything that can stress me out, or just not getting enough sleep, will bring on seizure activity and its those days I hate! Those are my bad days. I say go for it and see what they have to say. I always look forward to seeing my neurologist. I dont like going through "changes" when it comes to seizure medications, but theres always hope when it comes to appointments! :)
