as a lot of you know im on keppra and having so many side affects its unreal, since uping my dose i fel the side affects are getting worse, i feel like i want to rive my hair out n eyebrows with the itching even though my hair is already falling out with the meds and i have very dry skin on my head, eyebrows and hands. I now have numbness and tingling in my hands and feet, I tried lamotrigine but this made me very low is there anything else i can do to convince the doctors i need to get off this med?

Tell your drs what's going on and that it's gotten worse and you want to stop taking the Keppra.

I went through a lot of different meds, having to change because of the side effects or because they weren't working for me. It's a sort of trial and error before you find the right ones.

what dose of Keppra are you on now? And what amount of the keppra are they wanting you to get to? I was put on keppra at the age of 17, and remember it being "crazy and hard" at first. I had to get use to the side effects, but once I was on it, those went away and the Keppra actually worked well to control my seizures. As for the side effects you listed, I did get the tingling and numbness in my hands and feet last year when I was being weaned off of the Keppra to try the Lamictal. I was slowly being weaned off... going down 250mgs each week... I started out at 3000mgs and got down to 2500mgs, and I was having the numbness and tingling in my hands and feet all the time. It wasnt til after I found out I had the allergic reaction to the lamictal, and had to be put back on the full dose of Keppra, that the numbness and tingling went away.

I am taking Keppra for the second time. It is a eye opening experience the second time for sure. I dislike the side affects of Keppra, but I can handle them far better then any other drug. I noticed most of the unusual or uncomfortable side affect went away with time. The only thing that bothered me at times were having a depressed mood, or getting really angry. But those seemed to taper off when I made lifestyle changes. Avoided seizure triggers, diet changes etc.

Though if you feel you cannot take anymore and the seizure keep breaking through, then I wouldn't stay on any drug when you feel like that. Best of luck.

I am on 500mg 250 on a night n 250 on a morn. This is the second time trying these meds as I was on these beforen took myself off. I was then put on lamatrogine which made me quite depressed so I had to one off them and for some reason they putme back on keppra did not even suggest trying anything else. I ha e been on the keppra 7 month but I only had my dose reduced to 500 about 3 weeks ago and eve though I had these side affects on the 250mg they've getting worse on the 500mg. I cannot cope on these meds. Yeah I get angry on these too. I justcant cope with these side affects. Do any of youget buzzing in your ears?

Do you take B6 to offset to Kepprage?
I'm like Momof3Boys & MTFighter in that I started Keppra in June and had horrible side effects. During this time, I had a day of very bad seizures that left me useless for a while(a couple months) therefore I didn't feel like reporting the side effects to the Dr.
So I think I got used to the mild side effects, while the really bad ones (like nightmares & depression) went away. And (cross my fingers) I think it might be working. My last seizure last month was lighter, although I still managed to break 2 ribs. But overall it was lighter-I was only out for 3 hours & the post-ictal period was much more manageable.
What I'm trying to say, Crazychick, is that if you can, you might want to stick with it a little while longer. B6 helps relieve that rage. But I'm not a doctor, and a lot of people can't take Keppra. You know your body best-get off it if you can't handle it-along with your Dr's help. If your current Dr. won't listen to you about stopping the med, find another Dr who will listen.
