Hi there...I am completely new to this. I am only 23 and have never had a seizure before until 3 months ago in May and now another one this past Saturday. They only happen in my sleep. My boyfriend has luckily been there for both of them and was able to witness what's happening to me during these seizures...groaning, foaming from the mouth, convulsions and I've bit my tongue hard each time. After I am done seizing he says he's tried to wake me up but I won't wake up...eventually I will just wake up out of no where with out any recollection that anything had ever happened except that my tongue is bit. I have had one EEG done after the first one in May and there was nothing out of the ordinary. I am now going to Barrow's Neurological Center and should be getting another EEG and an MRI done. I am not currently on any seizure medicine (thankfully...I've heard they really mess you up).

At this point I am just scared and don't know what to think. They've only ever happened in my sleep. Anyone ever had this only happen in their sleep? Any comforting words would be appreciated :)

If your brain isn't getting enough oxygen due to mild Sleep Apnea, and you find yourself waking up in a "postictal" state (out of it, confused, angry or over agressive or still feeling tired and not rested) you should get your Doctor to refer you to a sleep specialist. They will do an EEG while you sleep.
You may find out that you have seizures during your sleep as a result of you stopping breathing.

This could cure other health problems as well.

Maybe it's worth checking into.

Howdy! Almost all of my activity is at night. I don't wake up with them, just wake up with the alarm clock. But when I do wake up, WOW! I feel terrible, can't understand anything, everything hurts. Sometimes talking can be a chore. Don't be scared. Once you have your appointment, things will become more clear. I take 4 different seizure medications, and they do help. I don't feel much of the side effects. I have been very lucky! I do have absence seizures during the day, but not that often. Be strong, you can get through this :)

Thank you for your response! I remember the doctor mentioning to me that I have very large tonsils...I've never had any problems with them but now I am wondering if this is causing the sleep apnea/seizures by blocking my airway while I'm sleeping.
