I am going to sound like a broken record because I am sure that I have mentioned this before.....I have nocturnal seizures and have added a new move to my routine....I have started to sneeze and cough instead of the "regular" seizures that I have had in the past. Case in point, yesterday was totally lost due to a night of sneezing and coughing, of which I have no recollection of, the hubby told me. I woke with all the feelings of full blown seizure, dizzy, sick, sore, confused..yadda yadda yadda. So what to you think :ponder:

I'm hoping others will chime in on this because it's a new one to me. I assume you've ruled out other stuff like allergies or whooping cough. No daytime symptoms or fever, right? Have you ever been tested for sleep apnea?

Nope, no allergies or cold, no whopping cough, no fever, no symptoms of anything else. It is the strangest thing! No sleep apnea. Maybe I am just "special" :woot:

I started sneezing recently- only once or twice a day but I'd assumed it was because it's gotten colder & I now keep the doors & windows shut so the dust just sits here.

It could be a seizure. Or not. You can have a cold, cough and sneeze, and not have other symptoms. Dizzy, sick, sore, confused can be caused by extreme sleep deprivation + cold/flu, or another reason for coughing. Or, it could be a type of seizure.

I found this really interesting. I wonder if it is possible to have this along with epilepsy?
Cough syncope misinterpreted as seizures

As a type of seizure, I found this pretty interesting, too. There is some psycho-babble in it, but there is lots about the possible relationship of paroxysmal coughing/sneezing to epilepsy: Paroxysmal Sneezing

You know your body best. What do you think is going on?

Prior to Rebecca's seizures she use to have a constant clearing of her throat. So much so, we went to an ENT and had the camera go up her nose :/ I seem to remember her being put on a med, but it did nothing in the long run. The only thing that cleared it up was when we made the nutritional changes. I think it was eliminating the dairy that has helped that, and the ezcema that she had on the inside of her elbows.

Occasionally she has this clearing again, and an increase in sneezing, but it usually is at a time when I see other symptoms of fungal overgrowth (facial blemishes). I can usually bring it under control with Grapefruitseed Extract which shouldn't be used if you are using a Epileptic Medication (or at least ask your pharmacist)

Not saying this is similar to your symptoms, but I wanted to share it anyways in case you might see if eliminating something in your daily food choices that might be causeing the sneezing and coughing.

The whole experience is very interesting. It never wakes me, and I have no cold like symptoms. Like I had posted before, just the feeling like I have following a seizure. I will talk to the doc about it and see what he says. My guess is he will say "hmmmmmm"........

The coating on tabs can cause a reaction in some.. also the binder in the tabs.

If you feel like you usually feel after a seizure, I'm betting it's a paraxymal sneezing seizure. Interesting it happens at night. Do you have most of your seizures at night? That's when mine hit most often, too.

Just a suggestion.... I have read that the liver does much of its work at night.
Perhaps you need to find ways to help the liver flush the toxins.
If you have a congested liver and it can't eliminate quickly, it is my understanding those toxins go back into the blood stream. Then the body would see them as invaders and rev up the immune system... thus sneezing and ?
Just a thought

I know that whilst on 'Keppra' I encountered real problems with the intensity & regularity of Szs. When I told my Consultant of this she immediately changed my prescribed meds to 'Orlept'. Whilst I cannot be certain there was a definate & undeniable change, things undoubtedly settled down for me.

I do feel exactly the same way that I do after having a "regular" seizure. My seizures are almost always while sleeping. That way I can have a little "surprise" when I wake up. :roflmao:

I reported odd/unusual symptoms/experiences whilst taking Keppra and, as a result, my Consultant withdrew it & prescribed Orlept
