:ponder:so im sitting in the hospital for the first two days of my four day veeg and they are goodish days? just my luck. i, barely seizing so they are shooting strobe lights at me every five minutes so i have a horrible headache. haha at least i have something to do. the computer guy for the hospital just fixed the wifi and i have a GREAT view from this window so there is an upside lol. and its going a lot faster then i would have expected.

Glad it's not too bad in the hospital.

Have they lowered your dosage of medication to help provoke a seizure?

Wi-fi! That's gotta be better than playing one-sided chess and reading magazines LOL Don't get bored, now...

I wonder if the headache will precede a seizure, or at least show something on the EEG.

Good luck!
Chel

thank you and hopefully it will haha i never thought i would want a seizure but i better have some

I hope you get some good results!

Im eager to see what mine will be like! Im scheduled to have my VEEG March 7th.

I was told I would be there for a week. March 7th is a monday, They said I had to be there and checked in by 10am. I dont know if they mean a business week.... like Monday through Friday, or actually a whole week.... monday through sunday? Guess i will find out more when I get there. They put me on the cancelation list too... but because I have three little boys, I wont go anytime before then since my husband scheduled to take the week off from work to watch our kids while Im there.

good luck. we had a freak snow storm on sunday so they almost cancelled and this is my winter break so im not missing any school. my mom also took a week off from work so they tried to cancel but she wouldn't let them

Dang! I would have been upset if they did that to me! The dr I have been seeing for a couple years now, he resigned and is now a chairman at another hospital. I was on Keppra and having some break through seizures. He maxed my dosage out to 4000mgs a day, and after 5 weeks I couldnt take it no more. Since he had already left, I got put with his partner. Let me tell you what, his partner is the best dr ever! I went from hearing, "theres nothing more we can do for you, you will be on your medications the rest of your life" to "Were going to set you up for a VEEG!" I was totally blown away when I heard those words! Ive had regular EEG's done, but not a VEEG. This new dr, put me on Keppra XR and back to 3000mgs a day. Much Better than what I was on with that prior dr! :)

Im glad you got in and I hope you get some good results! :) Were in Nebraska... so Im hoping my March, we wont have to deal with snow here! But who knows with how Nebraska is with our winters!

It's never great to have them, even at the hospital. The first i had i was not important for me/them i didn't have a seizure that doesn't means you brain activity isn't off the charts. There is a very small chance that you act in the lights, i can't remember now but it's like 5% of the E's. I was surprise when i saw the results

In my case if i want to have a seizure i drink 3 and 2 days before and talk to my girlfriend and parents, or take lamictral before (the seizure have gotten worst).

You should ask them why are they spending 4 days or your life in hospital ;) If they have a massive seizure will it help them to help you?

I spent hours in the chair, take a use air as possible, strobe light, hold you breath... i was feeling dizzy oka.

The brain is a weird world, whatever they find it will help other people.

Hope you are oka.

Hey gr33nr0se:)

Two down, two to go:woot: I Hope that they get some useful results and that they are able to figure out the best course of treatment for you so that you have a better year next year!

Meanwhile, hang in there and enjoy the view and the wi-fi:)

thanks guys and yea two down two to go its almost done... i just wish my head wasn't so itchy haha!

I'm surprised they didn't drop your meds. They took me off mine and I had 14 seizures in 3 days. I'm glad you're feeling ok, but I'd hate for you to spend all that time there with no results. Although I was miserable, the eeg's clearly indicated what was going on, and I subsequently had a left temporal lobe resection. It's been successful so far, no seizures since June!

I wish you the best!

and yea i kinda wish they'd have dropped my meds too because i kinda feel like this is pointless although, the passed two days i have had a hell of a lot of myoclonic seizures and simple partial emotional ones that make me feel like crap so hopefully they will bring results about.

As much as it would be great to have a seizure (sort of) remember that even when you don't have one, the brain can still be recorded misfiring.

Let's just hope that does happen with all the strobe lights & triggers they're exposing you to.

ahhh i hope sooo... my head is killing me... id much rather be throwing snowballs at my idiot little brother's head right now. i hope i didn't completely waste my winter vacation

Glad you are doing okay.

I'm also surprised they haven't just taken you off your meds.

Hey.... doesn't a little alarm go off every time you have a seizure? And the nurses rush in asking, "are you okay?" (Most of the time my answer was yes - it was just the darn software in their data-cruncher misidentifying a loose electrode as a seizure.)

I hope that your stay proves to be useful! Good luck, and glad to hear that it is going so well for you so far.
