Hey everyone

For a while now i've been having these weird feelings go through my limbs and up my spine. They happen almost like little shocks, but not painful like that or anything. Just like instant little feelings that go through my arms chest and back. It goes on for a while, not just one quick one. I will get them continually every 15-30 secs or so for several hours. I haven't changed my medication or anything for a long time now so i'm not sure what may be causing this. I've never had any kind of aura and I didn't notice this happening before my typical seizure activity either.

The really strange thing is that they seemed a little more frequent when I got more sleep. I've been getting less sleep lately and it hasn't happened for a little bit. I decided to bring my question to the REAL experts before talking to my neuro. lol

Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced similiar symptoms/seizure activity, or just your thoughts.

Thanks,

-Brody

It could be a a seizure symptom, or perhaps a side effect from your med(s).

It might also be something called Lhermitte’s phenomenon. It's a form of neuropathic pain (not a seizure) that takes the form of an electric shock-like sensation that occurs when you flex or move your neck. It can radiate down the spine, as well as into the legs, arms, and sometimes also into the trunk. It can have a variety of causes, including an inflammation or abnormality of the cervical spine, MS, or a B12 deficiency. (If you have some sort of inflammation, then extra sleep might irritate it more, making the sensation more frequent. Another possibility -- some of the AEDs can cause B12 deficiencies, so you might want to get tested for this and/or ask your doctor about taking a B-Complex supplement.)
