Hello junemarie, warm welcome to CWE.

My Son too has seizures, 27 now and diagnosed at 23 :(

Some excellent reading here and talks openly about OUR (the carers) fear and how to deal with it...but so much more....

Don’t let fear get the better of you, for your Son will feel your fear....Time to get yourself educated and learn ALL you can, this will help you all big time.

if you not keeping a seizure diary, suggest you do, noting every seizure, anything out of norm, like do you notice changes in your Son due to the meds, well simply everything and anything that could be seizure/heath/behavior related, they are so helpful when looking back or identifying triggers or when going to see doctors, note every

keep us posted.

I want to welcome to CWE.

I remember when I was diag. I felt all alone and like I was the only one going through this.

This forum has been of great help to me.

Have you started a diary this will help you and the Dr.

If you know the triggers this will help.

there are many triggers lack of sleep, stress, infection, antibiotics, some foods.

Hi Junemarie, welcome!

When seizures are new-onset it can definitely be scary for everyone involved. Gathering information can be very helpful at this time. Don't hesitate to ask your son's neurologist for guidelines, and please feel free to ask questions or vent here at CWE as well.

Best,
Nakamova

Hi Junemarie! My daughter, almost 12 was diagnosed over the summer. I know how you feel. I was terrified to be away from her for a moment. How old is your son? What kind of Epilepsy/seizures does he have? All I can say is, it will be ok. It takes time but eventually you will find a new "normal" for you and your son. Ask questions, research, be your own advocate...if you dont agree or something doesnt seem right push for answers. Welcome :)

thanks for all your reply,s its nice to know you are all there when i need to talk to someone My son is 31 yrs old,, but still living at home but due to move in with his partner at the end of this month, and gonna be a dad 10th april. He has not taken the diagnosis to badly to be honest ,,he,s just glad to be on medication now.He has only had 3 seizures in 3 years doc didn,t say what kind of epilespy he has but after reading different things i think they are grand mall.I live in dread of him having another to be honest ,his partner doesn,t seem to worry like i do she witnessed his last one in feb altho it scarred her.he is taking lamotrigine, started on low dose and has to build up over 15wks untill he is on 200mgs a day.So far side affects are just a bit of insomnia so we,re keeping our fingers crossed this med controls them anyway i dont want to bore you all to death anymore but thanks for listening junemarie
