Hi,
I'm new to this forum and am hoping someone may be able to give me some advice or support....

My husband was diagnosed with epilepsy after we had been together around 6 months - most of the time this is managed well and his seizures have reduced - but I find myself constantly worrying (which I guess is normal?) about how bad they may get and the impact it'll have on him both mentally and physically. Around a year ago he had multiple seizures in a day that ended up with him in hospital and having scans for a suspected tumour (thankfully these were clear)

I love my husband and am worried that I'll lose him - does this feeling ever ease?

It did for me. My wife has been on quite the rollercoaster over the last 30 years or so and there were times where I was hypersensitive to any abnormal noise in the house. Eventually I just kind of surrendered to the wisdom of the serenity prayer and let go of worrying about what I could not control and just focused on doing the best I can in managing what I can. Thankfully, she's doing a lot better these days.

Welcome to the forum.

Hey.

Welcome to the forum. I hope that you find the answers to all your questions here.

I have not been here long myself, but from what I've seen there are people here on a daily bases checking the threads so I feel you're in good hhands

Sorry you are having so much worry about your husband. It will get easier with time, and now you're here we can put your mind at rest with any concerns you might have

It’s a difficult situation. It can be one of those “you don’t know what he’s going thru, and he doesn’t know what you’re going through.”
Please ask some questions. Lot’s of kind and supportive people here. ✌️

Hi Mich95,

Welcome to CWE! My husband has dealt with my seizures for almost 39 yrs. not to mention having 2 brain
surgeries to reduce my seizures. It takes time and understanding what epilepsy is and what causes the seizures
and then when a person does things are much better.

I've had both absence and complex partial seizures since I was a kid but the best thing to do is just carry
on with each day and if your husband should have a seizure just treat him like it's no big deal and carry on.

Your husband may want to ask his neurologist or Epileptologist to do a DNA test on him, by doing this
they will be able to find the best seizure med for him with the least side effects or the test will show if he's
drug resistant like I was.

I wish you and your husband only the best and May God Bless the Both of You!

Sue

Hello. Hopefully, he will be lucky in enough to find a medication or combo that will stop his seizures. Finding the right meds is truly like a game of hit or miss. I've been taking AEDs for simple partials since 1987, & then started to have complex partial seizures about 25 years ago. I still have 1 or 2 complex partials/month.
