If you haven't already, it may be worth trying a B6 supplement -- for some folks it helps reduce the mood-related side effects from keppra.

Generic Keppra has worked well for me since 2006. Had to increase my dosage to 1500 mgs. (which I heard is not a lot) recently and have developed an annoying rash. Other than that, everything is good. Never had the rage! Thank God!
Good Luck!

Hmmm did the rash only start when you started the meds? The reason I ask is we thought for ages my lupus was just subacute lupus but it turns out it is drug induced lupus, because I was off carbamazepine so long the drug induced lupus was already in my system then I started carbamazepine again after my seizure in october it flared but dermatologist said you need to stop the carbamazepine so we did and in 2 days it cleared up. He said yesterday never under any cercumstances take carbamazepine ever again. I'm not aware of keppra causing drug induced lupus and I'm not saying you have it because you most likely don't. Could just be a side effect but not sure.

The rash and itching began when my dr. upped the dosage from 1000 to 1500. I know because when I first started taking it in 2006 I had the itching but eventually it went away. Will be starting with new dr. next month and will address with him.
Good luck on your journey!

One a day for 4 weeks. Then two a day. So far not noticed any side effects and another seizure is overdue as they often happened once a month but touch wood nothing, hopefully I won't have any with being on keppra. Fingers crossed. Said to my neurologist I wouldn't mind if I stayed conscious during a seizure but I get the stupid tonic clonics hence why I was reluctant to hold off on the medication. The one in october gave me a sore head, a black eye thank you very much, a sore back, a bruised nose, a little cut I never realised I had til that evening when I was getting ready for bed, a bruised knee and a few other minor injuries. Must have bit my tongue somewhere in the seizure as I got an ulcer on it. So don't fancy anymore seizures noooo thank you very much. Come on keppra kick my seizures into the middle of next year but no keppra rage please just kick the seizures if you don't mind that will do nicely. Now where is my dog who knew it was coming. We take notice if he acts weird again. He is a clever boy Buddy is, he is my best friend. Though a bit daft. Hates high pitched noises.
Hi, Buddy's Onwer

My husband just started keppra too March last year after he had two T/C seizures for the first time in his life. So far he has not had any T/C seizures, knock on wood. but he occasionally has absent seizure in the middle of the night still. (He has had these absent seizures for several years occasionally before the T/C ones) The doctor is suggesting to up his dosage from Keppra 1000mg to 1500mg and now to 2000mg to see if it can stop that. So far, he has not had any Keppra rage and seems to be his normal self. Except when every time the doctor ask him to up the dosage, he would be very angry at me and say very mean things to me. But he will come around after a couple of days. I hope Keppra works well for you and good luck to you too!
