Okay I am really convinced generic keppra screwed me up big time!

While on the drug tons of bad side effects but it's been two weeks since i stopped it and I still have head pressure when I lay down or put on my glasses. I have a constant dizzyness I have a pulling sensation in my neck area (throat area but on the sides of my throat) that comes and goes.

Yesterday I started to feel funny (increased dizzyness) so I got up to walk around and while walking a sudden burst of dizzy hit me i was still able to stand and walk but it scared me. I also see two small clear/gray spots only if the area is lit but where it's dark no. I see them pretty constantly.

Also I had another wave of dizzy come my way but it was very weak.

So basically I can't tell if this is seizure related or after effects from my stupid medicine??? I've been looking at stuff but I'm having a hard time saying yeah I seem to fit into that category??

My neuro says the medicine should be out of my system. The regular dr checked if i had vertigo and some other basic things but she as well as i think this is from the medicine??

So members with experience help lol Also sometimes i get into these yawning
type things for a few minutes then it stops?? But i'm always tired and the majority of this stuff happens during the day. The dizzy and head pressure are a constant though :(

I don't know what on earth my body or brain is doing :(

ps thank you to the other members who have replied and are helping me understand (other posts)

Sometimes it can take a while for the body to adjust, both going and off the meds. Even though it's been two weeks, I think you're still feeling the after-effects of the med and of stopping it.

wow..... yeah this one tore a hole in me gah! the dr said some people don't react well to generics so i will ask for name brand when I try a new one.
i've been panicking a lot because of how i feel but okay i will just have to keep that in mind the medicine is making a slow exit

Msat,

Side effects from meds can last long after you stop the medication. Topamax made my ears ring really loud. I went off the stuff a couple of months ago, and my ears still ring from time to time. The longer I'm off the Topamax, the less they ring.

Dizziness, floaters in your eyes, a feeling of head pressure can be a seizure, too. One way to tell the difference is whether you had all that before the Keppra, and whether it is trending in the right direction now that you are off the stuff.

I noticed drug effects for about a month after Rebecca stopped taking them. Our neurologist said after 4 days they should be out of her system.

When you are with someone everyday, you can tell whether or not they are feeling like themself again.

Hi,

Well I'm on Keppra (and I just realized it's a generic version) and I am CONSTANTLY tired during the day, and yawning, I could just go to sleep. I actually fell asleep on a conference call yesterday at work! The "floaters" could actually be small parts of the retina which actually fall off (pretty normal) and because the fluid in the eye is gel like it takes a while for them to settle to the bottom. I told my opthomologist about this many years before my accident and seizures and he said it was fairly normal and not to worry. What I do see know though is a weird psychodelic view of the world. It's only happened once a week for 3 weeks for 15 - 20 seconds but it gets me really freaked out. Today I feel as if my legs are extremely weak which is new but I consider this all part of the med side effect. And like others have said it may take awhile for the keppra to fully leave your system. Good Luck!

Neil

i wish dr's could take what they prescribe before they say how quick something leaves the system geee!!!!!

and floaters?? that's what they are called?? wow...................... learned something new today :) those things are weird looking!!!!

i do wonder if the rushes of dizzy and feeling weird before hand is a seizure??
if so it would be a completely new one? Thing is I am 100% aware of what is going on.

The dizzyness is slowly i mean very slowly improving and the head pressure scares me because my head is sensitive to the touch and that generic keppra did that to me.
if the head pressure is still here in 2 weeks then i'm going to beg for a further anything from my main dr

thank you all so much :) I should make that my new FB status later on : I have eye floaters lol

Hmmm.. dizziness, head tender to the touch, and floaters could also be a migraine. Do you suffer from migraines?

I never have at all and the pain subsides once i take off my glasses but it is a constant pressure/ache. So the floaters could be a result of the head pressure?

I think this is a good question for your neurologist. Do you have an appointment soon?

I did tell her about what was going on and she pointed me in the direction of my main dr. :( so i'm hoping this cr*p subsides in 2 weeks if not then well i shall be calling the dr again. I am frustrated bad with all of this. Next drug I try I am asking for name brand. I don't have an appointment with her but I can still make contact through email or the advice nurses.
