Today I had a weird thing happen. I've had an aura all day. In the middle of the day, I was walking down the hall and my legs stiffened/locked up and I kept on walking - I couldn't stop for about 4 or 5 steps. Then I was back to normal. I remember it, didn't lose consciousness, just couldn't stop walking. How weird. I've never had a problem with legs or moving before. Anybody else had this? Is it a type of seizure or a side effect of the meds, or something unrelated?

For those that don't know me in here I have Complex and Simple Partial Seizures. Temporal Lobe epilepsy.

There's nothing like this in the seizure descriptions in the usual websites. So I'm stumped. I figure if it exists somebody in here has either had it or has heard of it.

If it was me, I would take some extra magnesium. It helps with muscle relaxation, and the nerves. There is no downside to doing this.

Not all complex partial seizures involve complete loss of consciousness. It is possible to have impaired consciousness - where you are aware of your surroundings (can see, hear), but unable to speak or otherwise control the body. It is also possible for the body to have automatisms or continue on "autopilot" during seizures.

I'd definitely recommend that you tell your doctor/neuro about the event.

Hi Endless, I was just wondering if you are feeling any better today. I really felt for you last night when I read your posts.

Thanks, everybody. Yesterday was a really bad day. It reminded me of the time before I was on meds.

I'm much better today. No aura, no seizures. Last night I finally went the drug option, it knocked me out, and by morning no more aura, no seizures, only a mild headache.

Epilepsy is so weird, and so unpredictable. I think the unpredictable part is almost worse than the weird part. We never know when our life will be turned upside down. It'd be easier if we could schedule for it. Like, "Thursday will be a seizure day, so I'm rescheduling so I can be home......"

Oh - Question -

The legs that kept walking... what part of the brain would that kind of seizure come from? I have temporal lobe seizures. Are they moving to a different part of the brain? If so it's probably time for another eeg.
