Hi everyone, this has taken me a lot of courage to post on here, but i just need to get things of my chest(might go on a bit long) sorry!!!!! Well i have been seizure free for 3 years then 2 weeks ago upon taking my son to school blacked out in the playground followed by a seizure, which lasted about 3 mins apparently as they called the ambulance, since then i am so paranoid that it is going to happen again, which in turn has now started panic attacks. I have so much stress in my life right now aswell, cut long story short, my mother of 70 sold her property and moved in with us, but things are terrible, she constantly goes on at me about my husband, moaning about him, things that just arent true, it is so upsetting and im so in the middle trying to protect everyone and forgetting myself. My husband is so supportive in all of this. I am going to the doctors next week and something has to be done, as i dont want to go out of the house in the fear that its going to happen again.
Everyday i fill i am living in fear. x

Hi Dee I, welcome to CWE!

I'm so sorry you've suffered a breakthrough seizures AND have to deal with the stress of your mom. Is it a temporary situation, or is she with you long-term? Either way, it's great that you husband is able to provide support through all the drama.

Definitely see your neurologist about whether or not you should up your dose. If your mother's moaning is going to be a constant, then you'll probably need a bigger "safety margin" of meds to keep you safe.

I hope you are able to find ways to relax -- remember, it's a matter of your health and the safety of those around you.

Best,
Nakamova

Thank you for your words of comfort, i hope the doctors can sort something out for the panic attacks, i have lost total confidence in the seizure tablets and thats not helping either. My mother will be with us for ever, so that needs sorting as well. She is not in a good place either and is on anti-depressants

I'm so sorry for the rough time you're going through right now. Sounds like things were already hard enough before your seizure.

It sounds like you have a plan for next steps with the seizures, what about dealing with your mother. It sounds like she could be a major stressor - and if you're anything like a lot of us, that could cause seizures. Have you considered trying to finding counseling for her, you and both of you if needed? It sounds like she really needs to understand the limits of what you can handle from your relationship, so you don't dread talking to her, and associate stress and seizures with your mother.. If she's not going anywhere then maybe the relationship dynamic needs a tweak? You have so much on your plate right now, she should be helping not hindering, but she's hit her own rough patch. Maybe you guys can find a way to help each other get better?

Gday
I was told [ i was upset / stressed at having siezures ] that " if you yourself can`t fix it don`t worry about it " it only causes stress , i now think " bugger epilepsy " and get on with my life , it is great that your husband supports you i have learnt that you find out who true friends are when you are down and my policy now is that i will help those that have helped me [ i would help family and friends and very few would help me ] , you and your husband have opend up your home to help your mother and if she is not happy there maybe she should politley be told that if she doesn`t like living there that she is more than welcome to leave , don't get caught in the middle for your health it isn,t worth it .
i wish you all the best and HAVE A GREAT DAY :)
