Taking Vimpat in unequal doses?

My daughter has been on Vimpat 300mg per day, along with another medication. She's stopping the other medication due to bad side effects and trying Vimpat alone, starting today, increasing the dose to 400mg per day. Since she already took 150 for her morning dose today the doctor told her to take 250 this evening, and begin taking 200 mg twice a day tomorrow.

Because Vimpat is expensive, I hate to waste the two weeks worth of 150mg tablets we have left. I thought she might continue the 150/250 dosing schedule until she uses them up, just like she did today. Has anyone taken Vimpat in two unequal doses? We did send a message to her doctor asking if this was alright, but while we wait for an answer I thought I'd see if anyone here has split the doses unevenly.

Can you have your doctor write a prescription for 2 weeks of 50 mg Vimpat so you can use up your supply of 150 mg pills? I find that doctors don't often take into account the cost of the medicines (and how much you might have leftover) but are more than willing to help when these types of situations are brought to mind.

When I was paying a ton of money for my meds, most were name brand and I didn't have the insurance plan I'm on now, I asked my neuro if I could have samples. He almost always had some and would give me a lot.

The doctor okayed taking the unequal dose to use up the 150's, but also gave us a prescription for enough 50mg tablets to add to them.
Unfortunately after two days on 400mg per day she had a complex partial last night, so maybe the Vimpat alone isn't going to work for her. Still, we're glad she's off the Zonisamide, it was controlling the seizures but she was so messed up while on it. Now she's getting her normal personality back again.
