My 4 year old has began to stutter. He has been on Tegretol for about 5 months now and its the only medication that has been able to control his seizures. He had prolonged seizures.
Any body know anything about the connection between stammering and epilepsy? or stammering and tegretol?

Speech problems can be a side effect of Tegretol -- it may be a sign that your 4-year old is on too high a dose. Let his doctor know.

I have a problem with trying to think of words and I'm usually studdering to get the word to come out of my mouth. I'm also on tegretol.

i have never been on tegretol before, but i know with every seizure med i've been on (lamictal, topamax, keppra) with the exception of dilantin which sucked for me ive had speech problems. i think its a side effect for most of them on a high dose. unfortunately it has never gone away and i dont think it will on tegretol either until thoe dosage is decreased
