Hi all,

Thanks for your time. Who out there has has an allergic reaction to Carbamazepine? I have dry, winter skin but am worried if it is a rash because of the med or just eczema. I started the Carbamazepine about 1.5 months ago and have red patches on my upper legs that are itchy. My back is also itchy. I can freak about stuff easily and I don't want to over-react. How can I tell the difference?

Thanks,
Erin

I was on Carbatrol ER for 14 years, and never had any kind of rash. I hope someone else here can chime in with their experience. Have you brought this up to your neurologist?

Thanks!

Thanks for responding! I also am a mom of 3 boys - it's fun to say the least. :noevil:

I have not told my DR yet because it started after my last appointment. Lotion seems to help....makes me lean towards just eczema but I still don't know.

I have been on some form of Tegretol for a number of years and a rash is the only side effect I have not experienced.

Hi eem,I had to stop taking tegretol because I had such a bad rash/hives and was so itchy.my dr did warn me about it and sure enough it was was one of quite a few side effects I got from tegretol.
