I have an awesome doctor who specializes in epilepsy and I've been with her for six years now. I had to cancel my appointment with her yesterday because I could not walk with a torn hamstring, and today I learned that her next available appointment is not until February. I really feel like I have to see someone soon regarding changes I've had since my last visit. So, what are your thoughts about seeing another neuro in between visits with my favorite doctor? Just one time, just somebody who's available soon. If I've never met said doctor before would such a visit make things too complicated? This is another thing I've never had to think about before, I've always been bumped from doctor to doctor by other doctors.

My recommendation would be that you find a way to see your regular doctor if at all possible -- ask about being on a cancellation list, call frequently to see if there's an opening, etc. If there really is no way to see her sooner than February, see if she can give you a referral to someone else. That may make it easier for the new doc to get information about your seizure history.
