My husband had surgery yesterday and I had a TC in the waiting room.

I the whole place went crazy from what I was told. Don't remember what went on because I was out of it though.

I started coming out of it while being put on a gurney with a dr asking me "Do you know where you are?" I just thought he was crazy, not realizing I had the seizure, and told him I was in the hospital. I had another partial when they took me back into a room.

When I was back to normal the women at the desk in the waiting room, I'm not really sure how much they are in the actual medical perfection they are, couldn't believe that I was up walking around and kept asking me if I was alright. I don't even think they could believe that I was actually talking and was able to answer their questions. I'll bet they were probably screaming when I had that seizure!

This is probably true Andrew. I had to go to bed early the night before so we didn't get a chance to perform a séance.

I hope they're ok and I didn't release too many on them....

I agree the best and worse place to have a sz is in the hospital.

I've had plenty of sz's in hospital when I go see my docs who are all in same hospital.
ppl just freak when they see me seize and want to send me to the E/R.

I've argued plenty of times about not going to E/R and if I'm not hurt leave me alone.

The worst place to recover: ER lol

Last but 1 neuro visit, I had seizure waiting for the lift/elevator on my way up to the epilepsy clinic. Came round surrounded by staff, trying to tell me I'd fainted. I couldn't talk, but I showed them my appointment letter- thinking they'd realise it was a seizure- but no, it was still recorded as a 'faint' even though I was clearly post-ictal and spent 30 mins on a gurney recovering.

Good to know there's such competent staff in the Neurology wing *sighs*

Even when I went to my old epileptologist in my previous town and was having seizure activity, he refused to let me walk. They'd always put me in a wheelchair, which was always a pain because most of the time I had to be moved across the road to the hospital and I couldn't have a last cigarette first. So I used to have to sneak past the nurses to go smoke in the parking lot. They'd completely freak out because my neuro was so strict about everyone staying in bed with the cot sides up at all times. Once he caught me going around to beds to interview patients for a feature I had due. It was the only time he shouted at me. I asked him what the worst thing that could happen was and he shouted, "You could die." So maybe we are so used to our seizures that we don't take them seriously enough? I don't know. I once had a seizure in a cardiologist's office and he was overjoyed. He had me carried onto the ECG bed and did the test while I was still passed out. He said it was the best situation for a good ECG. Then he sent me to the neuro when he was done. Doctors are pretty funny if you think about it.

I'm sorry but I'm actually really enjoying reading this post. can I just say, oh the naiveness of some people! you would think that being in a hospital they would know more! at least tell the difference between seizures and fainting. I haven't had a seizure in the hospital.....yet..... *knock on wood* but been in the ER for the after math... I can't tell u how many times, I been told I just had a fainting spell or worse.... I'm "faking" it.....

My husband told me today that I had a partial, after the TC, when I was in the ER. The drs were going to hook me up to more IV's, which I was already on. My husband and dad (who had come to the hospital when my husband called and told him I was in the ER) kept telling them that I'd be ok, just give me a few minutes. They were arguing back and forth about it when I came out of the seizure.

I remember they gave me some potassium pills when I was in the ER because my potassium level was low. I don't know if that's what they thought caused the seizure. I'm not sure if that's something that would?

I just feel bad for those ladies in the office, I know I scared the crap out of them. I'll bet they all got together after work and went to church to pray their hearts out!

I think I may just stick to having them at Wal Mart. That place doesn't go crazy when you have a seizure. They just look at you then keep on shopping.
