Hey I haven't been on in a while
Im due to go and see a professor in epilepsy at the end of the month and well I frankly cant wait for that :)

Side note: > im doing quiet well with longer seizure free periods now ive been increased on my meds so horaay ...but on the other hand my neurologist is convinced its non epileptic seizures bearing in mind that my keppra and clobazam seem to be controlling it so bit confused
And I saw my normal family dr and he is now thinking I have a tic/movement disorder

Im getting so frustrated as one min I get diagnosed with epilepsy now they might be scrapping that all together because I have normal eeg's ...

Help some advise would be great :)

Hope every one keeping well ?

Can't tics be a side effect of a lot of medicines? Maybe I'm wrong...

I have been having seizures for many years and for the longest time I always told others who brought up epilepsy, "No, I don't have epilepsy!" Even my wife and family went along with me in believing this. Then I went to many links on the internet to understand reality, and I talked to my doctor and neurologist... looked up medical records... darn! I have epilepsy.

The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines epilepsy as: any of various disorders marked by abnormal electrical discharges in the brain and typically manifested by sudden brief episodes of altered or diminished consciousness, involuntary movements, or convulsions. (epilepsy.com goes much further in the definition, I just thought I would throw in what the dictionary has to say.)

Doing a web search of tic I came across an interesting article on epilepsy.com and their definition of tic (Tics and Tourette Syndrome) is: Tics must be distinguished from movements of other movement disorders such as chorea, dystonia, myoclonus; movements exhibited in stereotypic movement disorder or some people with autism; and the compulsions of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and seizure activity.

I notice at the end here "and seizure activity." And I also must say that at times I have twitching of my eyes and at times cheek and lips, but I am 100%+ certain that I do have seizures, I am epileptic. So maybe I do have some type of tics syndrome, or possibly some seizure activity falls in to the wording of tics syndrome. I know in the past there were times I had eeg that did not show seizure activity, and while all they had to do to get seizures was lower my drug usage, that is irrelevant... point being eeg does not always show that one has or does not have seizures at the moment, or that one is or is not epileptic. So if one were to tell me I have tic syndrome, I would think in my head, "ok, that's nice... so what!"

Seizures are seizures, and oh how I wish that my seizures were not epileptic. Anyhow, I just thought I would throw this info in for you which I have gone over and over at many different website locations/links just trying to show I was not epileptic. Even though my doctors stated it in later 1990's, I told myself different.

jayde-101, I do hope things go best for you in how you are feeling about yourself... fingers crossed and thumbs up!

I'll be going in for eeg testing but my neurologist wants some special thing to happen with it so he will let me in to my city hospital for MRI, but he wants me to go to the hospital in the city where he is at for the eeg. Not totally sure why but it lets me know eeg in one place can be different than eeg from another.

Yup ... my local hospital has screwed up many things ... including MRI's that have very specific directions and phone calls for clarification was made.
