All day today my lower lip was twitching/trembling. This is the first time this has happened. I have been noticing an increase in major twitches mostly on my left side, but today also had a pretty strong one on the right side which is rare.

Has anyone else experienced this? Do you think that the activity today on the right side of my body and the lip trembling are related?

When I have partial seizures, my lower lip twitches, but I don't really pay attention if it's one side or the other. I don't lose consciousness, but I don't know when they're coming on, they just happen and they last a couple of seconds.
Do you lose consciousness, or do you hesitate when you have a lot. When I have multiple partial seizures which have been warning signs of a grand mal seizures, I tend to be affected by forgetting a lot and hesitating. I would say a prayer and have one and sometimes forgot what I was saying. I would remember the prayer, but I forgot if I said the part I knew I was supposed to say. Or I'd get up to get something, have them, and forget what I got up to get, but then I would remember. My mind is affected when I have them one after another. When I have them spaced apart, it doesn't affect me. I just keep doing what I'm doing, and saying what I'm saying.

I don't lose consciousness. Since May I have had 4 T/C's, and one status E which lasted over half an hour, and those are the only 5 times I have.

Between the twitches and the shiver/tingly partials, I have between 15-25 a day. I don't keep a record because they are two frequent. They have just increased my Lamictal to 200mg a day. I hope something works, or at least puts a dent in the frequency.

I don't know what to do though. Even though I am telling my nuro about the number of partials I am having, he still says I can start driving again on oct 13th as long as I don't have any where I lose consciousness. As anxious as I am to get back out there, I don't want to put myself or anyone else in danger.

What do you guys think?

As much as I would hate the idea of taking more than one medicine, because for myself three medicines are a pain, I would ask the doctor to add on a medicine if the increased dosage of Lamictal doesn't work.

YIKES

have you tried any alternatives?
Are the twitches related to stress in any way? You know it also can be a sign of magnesium deficiency. Magnesium is used to relax muscles. Some people use epsom salts in their bath (starting with a cup) to relax and also it helps to draw out toxins from the body.

My daughter had muscle spasms about a month ago, and I gave her an electrolyte drink (EmergenC) and extra magnesium and she was able to relax enough to sleep.

Sure worth a try, rather than more meds.

Unfortunately the Lamictal was just increased...on top of my 3000/day of keppra. I don't know what to do. I will try some magnesium.

Thanks

Definitely talk to your neuro

This is as likely a med issue as an epilepsy issue. The keppra dosage is on the HIGH side. I did a check on the lamictal and keppra together and they are generally OK, however DO NOT hesitate to contact your neuro with new or unexpected symptoms.

IMO, it's too soon to be driving if you've had 4 T/C's since May, even though you haven't had any since then. I'm in CO also, and I had a CP back in May while entering I-70 and rear-ended another car. I failed to stop because by then I was already into the seizure but somehow I made it home. The cop came to my home to ticket me, and I was still "fuzzy minded", so didn't remember all the details. Fortunately no one was injured but I was ticketed. I go to court this Friday. But I'm still not driving, I'm very reluctant to drive now.
That was the 1st day time seizure I'd had in over a year and my neuro had given me the o.k. to drive.

If your neuro just increased the Lamictal, maybe it needs some time to work....

Hello wtsa,
By chance are you taking Depakote w/ the lamictal & keppra? If so, tell your neurologist. While I was on the Depakote & Lamictal, my legs would twitch & sometimes I'd fall because the twitching was so sudden & strong. Hope this helps. ~Ann T.

Could be the seroquel. Check out these side effects:

Seek medical attention right away if any of these SEVERE side effects occur when using Seroquel:
Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); confusion; fainting; fast, slow, or irregular heartbeat; fever; increased saliva production or drooling; increased sweating; memory loss; menstrual changes; muscle pain, weakness, or stiffness; new or worsening mental or mood changes (eg, depression, hallucination); numbness or tingling; persistent, painful erection; seizures; severe or prolonged dizziness or headache; shortness of breath; swelling of the hands, legs, or feet; symptoms of high blood sugar (eg, increased thirst, hunger, or urination; unusual weakness); tremor; trouble concentrating, speaking, or swallowing; trouble sitting still; trouble walking or standing; uncontrolled muscle movements (eg, arm or leg movements, twitching of the face or tongue, jerking, or twisting); vision changes.

Also beware that these type drugs used for bi-polar disorder can bring on diabetes, so if you notice a change in your vision, thirst, unusual exhaustion,
call your dr. right away. I ended up with diabetes from a drug for bi-polar.
