I had a brief discussion with regard to coming of medications. He said that some doctors would try taking me off as I have been seizure free for so long. They don't know how many seizures that I truly had and I have gone a long time since my tonic clonic seizure. I have volume loss on the hippocampus/amygdala and uncus (I received copies of my MRI reports from the military) and my right parahippocampal is smaller than the right. Lots of terms that I have researching. They believe I have scar tissue/defect (gliosis). With these issues, not knowing what triggered the seizure and tolerating the medication with little side effects has brought me to point where I will be on medication for life. My neurologist basically said if things are going good why "mess" with it.

I was recently switched from keppra to Depakote so had to wean/increase both for a while. I know this does not really relate to topic. but I am feeling so much better. nonetheless I seized 2 days ago. E sucks!

Thank you - I think the "why mess with it" is exactly what I've been thinking --- but I can ask about the MRI and see if I can find out WHY he suggested possibly weaning so soon. Take care!!
