I've noticed over the past month or so a strange tingling/numbing sensation on only the left hand side of my face.

It usually just effects my left hand side of my chin, lips and cheek.

I do suffer from facial neuralgia now and then, but it can strike on any part of my face/head.

This comes and goes during the day and night. It's not uncomfortable but it's a very strange sensation. I've tried to think of what might be causing it. Something logical like after I've eaten but I have no tooth pain connected with it.
Or something I am doing in regards to leaning on my face. Or temperature.

But I was out on Saturday with some friends and, again in the same place, my face started randomly tingling/feeling numb.

I am a little concerned as it's just started in the last month, and I've just come off of some SSRI's. Maybe it is connected to that. But I have been off of them for over 2 months.

Has anyone else had a similar feeling, and what should I do?

(No seizure activity has followed this tingling/numbing sensation)

Got a lot going on? Thus is what I get with my anxiety attacks

I do get anxiety attacks but nothing ever like this. It literally will just randomly come on. My fiancée and I were on our way out to the cinema and now on our way home I've noticed it's kicked in for no reason.

There's no mental trigger is what I am trying to say.

The facial neuralgia suggests that you may have a sensitive trigeminal nerve. Ifthat's the case, the tingling could be related. Tingling can also be a seizure in and of itself, and it can also be a side effect of some seizure medications. As you note, it can be a withdrawal side effect of SSRIs, but that's more likely when the withdrawal has been abrupt.

Since there can be several causes, make a note of it and discuss it with your neuro, particularly if it progresses or can be traced to a particular trigger (stress, fatigue, flashing/fluorescent/dappled lighting, etc.).

Thank you. Both.

I have been keeping a little diary, of time, place, mental and physical health when it happens.
What has happened before it happened.

It's just very very strange. I feel no different (seizure wise), and me being taken off my SSRI's was very steady going. I've just been off of them completely for 2 months, nearly 3.

But I have been keeping a close eye on the environment around me before and after it happens. I just really hope it's not my medication for my epilepsy as this is the most stable I have been in a long time.
