I am seeing my neurologist on the 23rd regarding this..

But in the meantime....basically I slowly started coming of this med due to double vision which I'm just no longer willing to put up with despite having the most success so far.

Im now on half as much....getting partial seizures each day .....tingling....(I do have prn at hand)

My.question is ....I'm also being treated with a low dose of depakote for bipolar...has anyone had success at higher doses with this drug for tle?

Also on lamictal but thats already at 300mg
....

Anyone had better seizure control when off anti psychotic medicine ?

Lastly any recommendations for my up coming app ?

I know its alot of questions and my situation is made more complex due to being treated for another disorder.

Thanks.

Hi Vapour...
I don't know anything about Depakote so I can't offer advice on that, but I do have TLE and have been taking carbamazepine (tegretol) for over 8 years now (which though I've had a few breakthroughs I stay on it at a higher dose because it doesn't give me side effects - except that it is a calcium stripper so I have to be very tough with taking it or I really notice it in my nails).
I am also on lamotrigine (lamictal), and as it is also a top bi-polar treatment what about asking your neuro to ramp the dose up considerably to help both the bi-polar and seizures? I find it is a real helper for partials.
I'm just thinking if coming off the tegretol is already bringing seizures on it's kind of 'handy' that the other seizure drug you're on helps bi-polar too, so that you don't have to go on a third med (likely that's where you were going with the depakote, I just don't know anything about it, sorry!)
