Quick question... Paige (14 with JME) is running track. She just started 200 mg of lamictal today. After she ran the 400 meters (a sprint) this afternoon she was lightheaded and dizzy. Enough that she opted to not run the 800 meter. Which, by the way, I let her know how proud I was that she listened to her body and did not push it! The feelings went away about 10 minutes after she ran. This also happened last week. Seems too much exertion is making her feel this way. A possible side effect of meds or just exhaustion?

It could be too soon to tell. I experienced dizziness every time I made a transition on Lamictal, but that side effect went away after I was stabilized at a given level for at least a week or more. So it's possible that the symptoms she's experiencing are temporary.

Ia she otherwise okay or are there other side effects bothering her right now?

She really is not having any major side effects (KNOCK ON WOOD!!!). She had complained of dizziness a while back, but I was thinking it was due to the upping of her dose. If anything, she seems to always be tired every morning. I am trying to get her to have 8 hours of sleep each night - but a 14 year old having to go to bed at 9:30 - not so much fun! I guess I will monitor her and see if symptoms go away.

I know Lamictal also messed with my sleep for the first few months -- it was very restless, light sleep with vivid dreams. So she might not be sleeping that well, even if she does get the 8 hours.
