and through out the day ive had periods where my hands and feet would start to go numb, But instead of just stopping what I was doing, and waiting til it was over, I just started to keep myself busy.

Tonight, I was sitting on my bed watching tv, when I had a sick feeling in my stomach, then right after that happened, a very sad feeling came over me. My hand and foot on my left side started to go numb, and as the sad feeling became more intense, so did the numbness, which went to my whole body. My heart started beating faster, so i put my hand on my chest to see if I was in my mind, or if it really was going faster. I couldnt believe how fast it was beating. My husband came into the room and I had him feel my heart, he said it was beating fast. Then the urge to push my head to the right came, but I kept fighting it off.. the more I fought it, the more numb my body would get. After a minute, the numbness started to go away and my heart beat went back to normal. I tried to stand up from sitting down and my bottom half of my body was still numb.

Now I dont see my dr til the 25th, but has anyone had these happen? Or something similar? This is day 11 of only being on 2500mgs of Keppra, and so far things have been going good. I wrote down all of this so I can let my dr know.

I can't say i've had the same experience. I haven't kept up with your diagnosis / testing meds but do you know why he's got you on such a high dose? I only take 1000mg twice, daily and I'm a pretty big guy.

I wouldn't wait until the 25, I would at least call your doc and ask him for his advice as this is one of those "contact your physician immediately" things.

I take 3000 mgs. of Keppra and I experience this numbness, tingling sensation in my hands and legs on occasion, (moreso in my legs when I'm trying to sleep) but not the rapid heart beat or the lower half of my body being numb. You may want to inform your dr.

Here is a list of side effects from medlineplus.com:

whats weird is that Ive been on Keppra since the age of 18, and now Im 30. I was on 3000mgs of Keppra all those years. Im now on 2500mgs. During all those years ive never experienced the numbness til after i was taken off the Keppra and Carbatrol for my VEEG. It was during the VEEG that I experienced the numbness and tingling feelings the first time, and also being aware during the seizures. Since then, I was put back on the Keppra at 3000mgs, along with another add on medication, then my dr wanted me wean off the Keppra. Thats when I was still on the Lamictal. When I had the allergic reaction to the Lamcital, I was weaned down to 2500mgs of Keppra and the dr said to just stay on that dose, He thought it was a high enough dose for me. So today is day 12 of that.

He last spoke to me on the 6th of may when my Primary care dr confimred that I was having an allergic reaction to the Lamictal. Now that day he said that Im not having seizures, but anxiety attacks. I dont see it that way. First off, Ive never in my life had an axiety attack. Second, these episodes that he calls anxiety attacks, started when he took me off my two seizure meds cold turkey. The reason he is summing it up to anxiety attacks is because they didnt register on the VEEG, even though I had epileptic spikes on the VEEG. But then he tells me they could easily be simple partial seizures that were just too deep to be picked up. But then changes it to say they are not seizures but anxiety attacks.

The emotions I was going through have stopped since being taken off Lamictal. I feel like a normal person again. Its just the numbness and all what I typed in the first post that came back last night on the 11th day of being only on keppra.

I am on 1000mg of Keppra a day so quite a low dose! I have had some stupid side effects but nothing like yours! I CRAVE food! :| then I feel sick because I have eaten food I didnt need to eat. I also get soo mooody! I hope it gets beteer xxx

If anything, when it comes to food for me, Im not eating as much as I did before I was on the Keppra and Carbatarol together. Now my PCP says losing the carbatrol was more than likely for my weight loss. She did say it could also affect my appetite too. But my weight for my heigth is around 135lbs, and Im just 5lbs from it. So Im not that bad, but I was just suprised to lose that amount of weight in a such a short amount of time.

Im going to pray that whats happened last night and alittle bit today is all that happens before I see my dr on wednesday. Ive been on the Keppra for a few weeks now and the headaches are starting to become more frequent. So when I see him wednesday Im going to ask if I can get back on the Keppra XR which took away all my headaches. Thats if he is wanting me to stay on the Keppra.

I have been on Keppra for about 8 years now. I have both of the food effects.

My first month I lost 25 lbs, I had eaten like 10 times that month. Sometimes I gorge. I believe the medication effects the sensation I have in my stomach, I never feel full but I also never really get hungry.

The mood is something I had. Uncontrollable bursts of rage. I found that they always targeted specific people. Lots of fun. I quit a job because I had day dreams of choking the boss. I didn't know how much longer I could hold myself back so I figured I would leave.

I'm on day 9 of my Keppra adventure. 1500mg/day Keppra + 400mg/day dilantin.
I am hit with extreme drowsiness a few hours after I take a pill. 2 weeks ago I slept btwn 5.5-7.5 hours a night. In the last nine nights I haven't slept less than 10 hours and as I stated in another thread, I remember my dreams every morning now. For lack of a better term, really "freaky". I've had no numbness and the side effects to this stuff make it impossible for me to predict ANY type of episode the only trigger/identifier I know of, after having seizures for 2 years, is that I get REALLY tired about 20 minutes before an episode.

Ive been on keppra only for almost 2 years now. I recall the first month I had to get use to the new side effects. I did have some numbness when I went down in dosage as I was trying a new medication. but then had to be put back to the 3000mgs of Keppra and the numbness then went away. so far, things have been going great for me with only taking the Keppra.

im not sure what to say. I think when I first started the keppra I felt so unusual I can't peg how I actually felt. I do know my mood went down the gutter fast. But the drug worked at the time thats a plus plus. The second time being on it, I seemed to have a very different reaction. Still a mystery.
