Is there any way that a toenail fungal infection can lead to one getting epilepsy? That would be through the spread of the toenail fungus to the brain. Any information would be good to have. I know that fungal infections can spread if not treated. Currently, I have a toenail infection that I started oral treatment for years ago but it was discontinued due to low CBC counts.

Hi NaderH,

From what I have learned any type of fungal infection that can affect the nervous system could possibly cause epilepsy.
The main way a person gets epilepsy is through family genes, trauma, lack of oxygen, a bad scare, drug or alcohol abuse,
a bad blow to the head and difficulty at birth. Heart problems can also lead to epilepsy in some cases. Along with
scar tissue or a tumor on the brain. I wish you the best of luck and May God Bless You.
