Hi Everyone,

I just had another Tonic Clonic Monday overnight. Scared the crap out of my fiance. I was feeling awful after but at least I got to stay home and watch Judge Judy instead of going to work.

Usually when I have one I bite my tongue on the sides and bleed a bit, usually sore for a few days. This time when I woke up I noticed I bit my tongue like usual, but it was also numb. It's a little less numb now (36 hours later) but it's still happening.

Anyone else have this happen?

Thanks!

Chris

it just

depends on where on the tongue you bite it, how it feels. OK, that didn't sound quite right.........

When I have MY t/c's (GGGRRRRRRRRRRR. They're awful, and I break bones), I usually bite THROUGH my tongue, ON BOTH SIDES. Typically I bite far enough in that there's ABOUT 1/4" left, maybe 1/2", but there DEFINITELY is a boatload of blood.

You may want to go to the doctor, or even the dentist, to be evaluated, and make sure you didn't really damage something in there (it's possible). In the mean time, you can gargle with a salt water solution, OR a solution of hydrogen peroxide and water. No more than a capful of H202 to a drinking glass of water, and swish it around in your mouth. It will help kill the bacteria inside your tongue, and hopefully help the feeling in your tongue come back, too.

Take care.

Wow, that sucks Meetz... that sounds really tough to deal with. I shouldn't complain so much... I hope the TC's don't happen too often for you.

I'll have to pick up some H2O2. I'm going to give the salt a try for now until I can get into the doctor.

It's just numb at the end of my tongue, from where my front teeth bit down to the tip. I can still feel pain on it if I bite down, but not much else. And when I put my tongue up to the roof of my mouth it feels like the underside of my tongue is really being pulled.

Thanks for your help!

Chris
