Have you heard of Aussie Bites? I get them at Costco. It's oats, honey, raisins, sunflower seeds and can't remember what else, but they look like really small muffins and are sweet without being sugary. That's actually what I'm having right now because I can't sleep.

I will frequently eat a stick of string cheese before bed.

I also have a very easy recipe for cookies. 2 ripe bananas mashed, 1 cup old fashioned rolled oats, 1/4 cup chopped walnuts, 1 tablespoon melted coconut oil (optional). Mix everything together and drop 1 tablespoon batter onto oiled cookie sheet. Bake at 350 for 10 minutes. Makes about 12-15 cookies.

handful of nuts or peanut butter (natural...meaning just peanuts as the ingredients...no other crap except salt is fine)...or some form of cheese...those are both great late night (or anytime of the day really) snacks as they are both filling because of the fat content...stay away from carbs and sugar late at night though...and don't forget to eat healthy in general and drink plenty of water...let me know if you have any other questions :)

I like peanut butter too. Sometimes I will take equal parts of peanut butter and protein power, mix it up, roll them up in balls an refrigerate them. I eat them as snacks.

Carrots. I eat them, my dog eats them, my sugar glider eats them. Everybody getting tipsy on carrots at night.

At this point, I'm so stressed I would love to get tipsy on anything but I don't think carrots are going to do it for me.

damiana herbal tea does that for me and gives me a lightheaded I don't care about anything feeling.

Sounds delicious! :D

and yeah veggies of course :)

We do peanut butter balls at our house.

1 cup peanut butter,
1 cup rolled old fashioned oats (not quick oats!),
1/8c chocolate chips,
1/4 C chopped salted nuts.

Optional:
1/8 c coconut or almond flour
2 heaping T honey

Extremely optional:
2 heaping T Dark Rum

Mix it up until it's evenly mixed. Oil hands and roll dough into small balls, then roll in shredded coconut - really press the coconut in so you get lots! You can also dip them in chocolate. If you use dark 75% chocolate you can say it's healthy. I dip mine in chocolate AND roll them in coconut! :)

Refrigerate, or if you aren't going to use them in the next couple of weeks, freeze. Great snacks, much healthier than a candy bar. At least it was until we added the rum.

How about ants on a log

My good friend the internet says a stick of celery only has six calories... which is probably the reason celery sucks when eaten by itself.

Looks more like turds on a log lol...but yeah it's a good snack :)

Thanks for the celery idea but like i said, that doesn't fill me for the night. I wake up extremely hungry and then i can't go back to sleep

The trick is moderation. You don't want a full belly, you want just enough to make you feel better. Unfortunately many of the filling things have sugar in them. I suggested carrots, but when I eat them, I just keep going and going. Same with sugar snap peas.

Most of the time we think we are hungry when in fact we are thirsty...some people don't realize the amount of water that needs to be consumed throughout the course of one day...you can't just have a few sips here and there...you need to keep drinking water on a consistent basis...preferably every hour at least 8oz needs to be consumed...especially if you are active...your body cannot properly/effectively shuttle the nutrients from the food you are consuming if you don't consume enough water...but some will argue that statement...anyway...I think we all understand the point here...if you eat and are still "hungry" DRINK A GLASS OF WATER...if that doesn't work...keep experimenting to find out what does...everyone is different...best thing here is be smart and find out what works best for you...good luck ;) (also timing is an important factor as well...you want to consume faster digesting foods early in the day...i.e. eggs...as your body's metabolism is higher...some people don't like to eat right after they wake up but breakfast is the most important meal of the day and will kick your metabolism into overdrive for the day not to mention determine how you will feel throughout that day...I always have some whey with a banana and peanut butter right when I wake up (but that's not my breakfast...just my "wake up" nutrient intake...then about an hour later I'll eat breakfast like spinach or kale with eggs and some cheese and tangerines)...the whey I choose has vitamins with fiber and no artificial ingredients...I am currently supplementing with a green supplement but probably only for temporary usage...family visits have complicated things...but broccoli, spinach, and kale, and my three favs...anyway...as I was saying...your metabolism slows down later in the day thus you want to consume slower digesting foods such as meats...snacks are not as important whether they are fast or slow digesting because well they are snacks...not freakin MEALS...I mean seriously who is going to want to eat a damn steak or chicken breast or fish right after they wake up??? You'll just want to crash again cuz meat takes 3-4 hours to digest lol (I dunno for me personally it just seems timing is important and if you are active and working out like me you need to keep eating every few hours (2-3) to keep your body energized to burn fat and build muscle...but yeah again everyone is different...so whatever...do what you want and if it produces positive results then more power to you! :)

He's right, but water doesn't work for me when I'm not sleeping (like now). Glass of milk before I try eating anything as that often does enough, certainly don't need to eat. Also, in a pinch, 1/2 a peanut butter & jelly sandwich goes with the milk well...

Repeat after me "I will do whatever works for me and believe in myself while doing it" :)

Mr E- for us older folks, drinking a lot of water won't help us sleep, quite the opposite. We would be up all night long having to go p. :p

How's your weight niceguy? If your slim and haven't had trouble with weight then eat whatever you want, within reason. When I'd get hungry late at night I'd usually grab a bowl of cereal. My waistline didn't like that much..lol.
