im on topamax atm. yesterday i went up to two tablets a day [ 1 in am and 1 in pm } but by the pm dose i just felt nauseas cold pale faint shaky headaches and feverish. has anyone had this reaction? did u find a way to ease the symptoms? this morning i have cut my morning dose by half a tablet but im worried that if i stop my morning dose i might have break through seizure even though this is my second day with morning doses. i must admit it has helped with my gasping hyperventilating type anxiety though :)

Nausea is a pretty common side effect with Topomax -- it may go away over time as your body adjusts to the increase, but keep in mind that everyone has different reactions to AEDs. Generally speaking, the slower the ramp-up period, and the smaller increments, the less sever the side effects. So I think it's wise to make the increase smaller (i.e. half a tablet) to see if that helps. You may also want to experiment with taking the Topomax with meals or without to see what works better. Anti-nausea remedies like slippery elm and ginger can also help with settling your stomach.

ok sounds good ! its only 25mg atm but ive got my next doc appt on 20th and he expected me to be on 3 pills a day. most of my fits are from hyperventilating and happen first thing in the morning so i might not need to go up any more than the half in the morning and full at night.

It can't hurt to go slower (unless you have life-threatening seizures), so don't worry about following a different schedule or ending up at a different dose than the one your doc suggested.

When I was ramping up into Lamictal, my neuro wanted me to go up to a 300mg dose. I stopped at 250mgs instead, and later tapered down to 175mg. I've been seizure-free for 3.5 years.

hopefully itll pass soon , i feel utterly horrible , how long do side effects like these stick around for ? im guessing about 5 days , it feels like a really long hang over , and everything im eating is turning to water :( so im feeling especially thin lol
