Saw my neurologist today after 3 weeks of adding Depakote to my generic Keppra daily cocktail. No relief whatsoever, and the blood work showed my Keppra Level was a 9.5 and the Depakote was an 89.
Dr. said the Keppra level should be closer to 20, and he looked back in my history to try to find a Keppra level and found one he'd taken in 2009 (when I wasn't having any problems) and it was a 17.6. That was on 750 mg in the morning and 1 1/2 750 mg pills at night. Now I'm on 2000 mg/day and have a smaller level? And I have lost 45 lbs over the past 6 months. He said if anything that should make my level go up, not down.
He's calling the Depakote an epic failure as it did nothing to help stop my daily partial seizures.
He wants me to revert back to brand name Keppra. I was shocked to find that it costs over $800/month!??!
No biggie though, as I have a $3000/year deductible after which I'll pay nothing out of pocket. I guess I will be hitting that in about another month. :roflmao:
