For the last 8 or 9 years I have been having an odd thing happen to me which I've learned to be a form of simple seizure. Many times when I stand up I will suddenly lose control of the entire right side of my body, it tenses up and it takes everything in me to just stand there and wait it out. They normally last like 5-15 seconds. I have no idea what is going on and doctors seem to be stumped as well. Im 25 and fairly healthy, no medical issues with the exception of a fairly minor case of Pectus excavatum. Last night I started feeling dizzy and it hasn't stopped yet, I'm not sure if that's related or not..

Hi jpf566 --

Was there any particular incident that occurred before the initial onset of your symptoms 9 years ago? What sorts of tests have the doctors run? Have they done an EEG and/or MRI, or cardiac and tilt table tests? Given that your symptoms occur when you stand up, I would suspect that something along the lines of POTS (Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome) may be a trigger, or there may be a vascular component.

Are on you meds, and have they helped?

I'm with Nakamova on this. This doesn't sound seizure-like. It sounds cardiovascular. It's easy enough to do an informal test for this. If it was cardiovascular, you would expect it to improve if you get your heart rate up before standing up. I'm assuming MRI and EEG showed nothing.

What makes you think this is a form of seizure?

Nope, no incident that I recall.. They did an MRI as well as a test where they hooked up a bunch of cables to my head and told me to go to sleep, (although I couldn't fall asleep haha) Never did the tilt table test. I am not on any meds at all, the reason I thought it was a seizure is because that's what the doctor said it was hah. I'm still really dizzy, just went to CVS and got my blood pressure checked twice, these are the numbers

140/83 64
151/90/69

Which according to my google searches is on the high side...

You would want to measure how your blood pressure changes right when you stand up, as opposed to when you're sitting down.

It sounds like your doc did do an EEG (the test with the cables) -- You should find out what the results were, and whether they suggested an epilepsy diagnosis.
