People keep them as pets. You can buy them at the Reptile Conventions, even though they are Insects. They vibrate and hiss when they feel scared.
 
Cool..... I think my cats might like them.

Let's see.....It's an insect (but not in the beetle family), doesn't make sounds, and some people keep them as pets.
