The last time I posted about my husband's health was when we went to Omaha on 11/12/12. We called the office to ask for his blood results, which included testosterone, and thyroid testing. We finally heard back and got the results.

His testosterone went up, which is good. In september it was around 153... two months later, after going up in dose from 1ml each injection, to 1.5ml each injection, it went up to 633! Which we love! But then they said his hemoglobin was high... the highest they want is 17.3, but his came back at 18.8 so.... the dr calls this morning to say that she thinks the increase in his hemoglobin is due to having too much testosterone injections. She wants him to stop taking the testosterone injections, til his next appointment which is on 12/10/12. At that time, he will get more blood levels and we will see if the hemoglobin goes down with him not taking the testosterone. If that comes back saying it got lower, were going to have to try a dose between 1.0 and 1.5ml each injection. Then, another thing that was brought up is that some of his thyroid testing was off. He's had symptoms, which we thought were from low testosterone... but when I asked about the thyroid tests, she (the dr) said it could be that his symtoms which he still has even when his testosterone is going up, could be a problem coming from his thyroid.

So the plan is to wait to hear from the drs nurse that we saw on 11/12/12, to arrange a time to have him come in after his other drs appointment on 12/10/12. They said they can do a test where they insert an IV, and give him medications, then test things after 30 minutes and 60 minutes. It will give them a better idea of what his thyroid is doing. The dr just doesnt want to start him on thyroid medications at this point, just because some of the tests came back "off". Which I can for sure see why she is wanting to run more tests.

My husband's symptoms that he has been having since at least 2007 are the following:

very dry, cracking skin, his hands and feet are the worst
He's gained weight over the years, and needs to be at least 80-100lbs less
his face has got very puffy
he has alot of acne break outs
very tired, grumpy
irritable
mood swings
his memory has gotten worse over time too.. he is very forgetful

for his weight, he's tried exersizing so many times... so many diets, and still cant lose the weight. He has swelling in his ankles too... which I noticed when he stands for a period of time, his feet get yellowish in color. The dr said its due to the amount of extra weight he is carrying... but based off of what I found online... all these symptoms match with having low thyroid issues... So Im just praying we found the cause and can get this taken care of!

Sounds like your husband is as much a guinea pig as the average epilepsy patient!

I hope the tests next month provide some answers, and put him on a healthier track.

Yeah I see it the same way! We've been going through doctors since May 2010. Im to the point where sometimes I wish we could just give up!

Im praying the tests next month give us the answers we need too! :)
